Chapter 18

*****Liam's POV*****

Today is the first day of boot camp and boy am I scared. One screw up and I'm out of here. Bam! Done! And nobody will ever remember Liam Payne.

I sat in my hotel room with Harry, we are roommates, scratching my head as my legs were shaking anxiously.

'What will Mackenzie think if I don't make it through.'

'This could ruin everything.' I thought to myself.

"You ready, mate?" Harry asked me, shaking me out of my thoughts.

"Yea, I'm coming."

He held the door open for me as I walked out in to the hallway where I saw my competitors getting ready for boot camp. Some looked cocky, like they knew they were going to win, but others looked just as nervous as I am.

Suddenly the intercom in the hallway beeped and the room went silent.

"Contestants numbers 1-40, the boys group, please make your way to the stage." It said in its monotone voice.

"That's us!" Harry said to me and my stomach began to fill with jitters.

Harry, a bunch of other boys and I all made our way to the stage.

We all lined up backstage and waited for our cue. I watched lots of contestants perform, including Harry who did amazing. Some people did better than others. The director then pointed me to the stage and I knew i had to prove to Simon that i was ready.

"Hi everybody!" I began. "How you doing judges?"

I walked out to center stage and began to speak.

"The reason why I think I have the X Factor is because I had a hard time at an early age." I said referencing my time 2 years ago when I was cut at the judges houses. "I took on a huge challenge, set myself a goal, and I never gave up."

"Good!" Simon said. "Now what will you be singing for us?"

"Stop Crying Your Heart Out by Oasis." I told them.

The music began to play and I began to sing.

"Hold on, hold on, don't be scared." I sang to the audience. I performed to the judges until Simon held up his hand, putting my song to a close.

I walked off the stage and waved to the audience and I knew that was the best I could have done.

Now all I can do is wait.
