Chapter 16

******Liam's POV*****

"I made it through!" Harry exclaimed.

"That's amazing!" Mackenzie and I both said as we got up to hug him.

I wrapped in a giant bear hug and gave him a pat on the back.

"You're gonna do great, mate." Harry said in my ear through the hug.

"Liam Payne to the stage, you're on in 5 minutes! Liam Payne to the stage!" A giant man with a clipboard interrupted us as Harry let go of me.

I listened to the man and my whole body became weak and I was very nervous. Mackenzie noticed this and quickly grabbed my hand.

"I know you'll be amazing!' She said as she got up on her tip toes and gave me a peck on the cheek. My body instantly filled with relief but I was still unbelievebly nervous.

We walked through to the back stage area where the host of the show was waiting.

"Hey! How are you man?" He asked me as he gave me a firm handshake.

"Great! But nervous!" I replied back honestly.

"Oh! No need to be nervous! I'm sure you're gonna be great!" He said back trying to make me feel better.

I saw another worker give him a signal.

"Well, here you go, man! Good luck!" He said as he handed me the microphone.

He motioned me toward the stage and I began to walk towards the entrance when I felt a hand grasp my arm.

"Liam, wait!" Mackenzie said as she twisted me around to face her. "I love you." She said and I knew her words were sincere. She pulled me in for a short but meaningful kiss and a smile grew on both of our faces.

Without another word I walked on to the stage and my stomach began to twist in knots.

I strutted toward the center of the stage and the audience errupted in cheers.

"Liam!" Simon said. "How have you been?" He asked since our previous experience two years before.

"Doing great! Simon, how are you?" I asked still nervous.

"Awesome!" He replied. "What song are you gonna be singing for us today?"

"I'm gonna sing 'Cry me a river.'"

"Alright. Let's hear it." Louis said as the music began to play.

I listened to the beats and began to sing my fist note. The crowd instantly began to cheer and my body filled with happiness.

I saw the judges smile and nod as I continued to sing my heart out. I loved performing until I sang my very last note and the audience were on their feet.

I then saw Simon get out of his chair and same with another judge.

A giant smile grew across my face and the audience finally quieted down.

"Well Liam, you've certainly got something that everyone loves!" Cheryl said to me.

"This is the boy you let go of, Simon?" Louis said in a shocked tone.

"I told him to come back in 2 years time and he would be a different person...and I was right!" Simon said back and I'm pretty sure I blushed.

"Well, now we're going to vote." Louis said and I was completely anxious. I looked back stage and saw Mackenzie standing there as she gave a me a giant grin and thumbs up.

I refocused myself to the judges and waited for their responses.

"Well Liam, it's a yes from me!" Louis said.

I filled with relief and waited for the next judge.

"I agree! It's a yes for me too!"

That's 2 out of 4! I just need one more!

"I'm also gonna say yes!" Cheryl said with a smile.

My body filled with happiness as I realized that I was going through. But I still waited for Simon's response knowing that his was the most important.

"Liam," he started. "I think you will be happy to know that you have 4 yeses!"

My body filled with happiness and I felt on top of the world.

I thanked the judges and walked off of the stage.

I was immediately engulfed in a giant hug from Mackenzie.

"You were amazing!" she said to me. "I'm so proud of you!"

I set her back on her feet and thanked her.

"We better go tell Harry and Emily the great news!"

We walked out of the audition area and past a large area of computers and technology showing all of the angles of the audition happening at the moment when we finally reached the door. I pushed down the handle and walked into the next room where Harry and Emily sat, nervously waiting.

"What happened?" Harry asked as he stood up, curious for an answer.

"Well...." Mackenzie said as she ushered her hands toward me.

Emily and Harry's eyes darted from Mackenzie to myself.

"I made it through also!" I said excitedly as Harry and Emily became relieved and overwhelmed with happiness as did I.

"Well mate, it looks like we'll be on this journey together!" Harry said as he grabbed my fist and pulled me in for one of those 'bro hugs.'

"Lets go get some celebratory ice cream!" Mackenzie suggested to make this moment even more amazing.

We then walked out of the X Factor building and drove to the nearest ice cream parlor without a care in the world because we knew this would be an amazing ride.
