"O'Malley?!"

Angie's furious demand rang through the neuro wing of the surgical floor, making several nurses jump in surprise and shoot her a brief glare. Angie wanted to find it in her to apologize, but she was too focused on the neuro nurse before her to move.

"Who the hell assigned my father to O'Malley?" she hissed, lowering her voice. The nurse shrugged hopelessly, trying not to shrink under Angie's furious gaze.

"I...it was assigned to him by his resident, I don't know. I just hand off the charts." Angie's brow furrowed as she thought back to the locker room, when Bailey had been assigning jobs and handing off charts.

When Angie had been too out of it to notice that Bailey had sent George O'Malley to E19, her father's room, without hesitation.

Groaning softly, Angie leaned against the nurse's station, burying her face in her hands. Her father just had brain surgery, and George O'Malley of all people was overseeing his recovery.

Carmen, one of the older nurses, stepped forward, a reassuring smile on her face. "Ang, don't worry. Your dad asked for him personally."

Angie scrunched up her nose, looking at Carmen like she had sprouted a third eye. "My father asked for O'Malley? George O'Malley? Syphilis-ridden, scared of a uterus, trembling puppy dog George O'Malley?" Carmen bit back a laugh, shrugging as she scribbled into a chart.

"Hey, I just do what the man says. He's your dad." She shrugged and walked off, and the other nurse was quick to scamper after her. Angie sighed heavily, rubbing her eyes. She would be meeting up with Meredith later for Ms. Phillips' ultrasound, which gave her just enough time to check on her father for the first time since his surgery.

It also gave her a reprieve from being stuck to Addison's side all day.

Smoothing down the non-existent flyaways in her slick-back bun, Angie turned and headed to the patient room just across the hall, knocking softly before pushing the door open and beaming at her father.

In his bed, Richard hummed knowingly, looking up from his newspaper with a smile. "I was wondering when you'd come kicking down my door," he teased. Angie rolled her eyes, then leaned against the doorway with an eyebrow raised.

"O'Malley?" she asked simply, the doubt in her voice filling in everything else. Richard chuckled, folding his newspaper and pulling off his reading glasses.

"I needed someone's eyes and ears while I'm stuck here. And you scare too many people to get any good info." Angie snorted softly, stepping into the room and shutting the door behind her. She began to check over her father's vitals and latest status, and Richard sat there for a moment, watching his daughter work.

"Angie."

She hummed distractedly, too focused on analyzing his heart rate to notice the sudden seriousness in his tone.

"How long did you know?"

"Know what?"

"That Derek and Meredith are sleeping together."

Angie froze in the middle of checking his blood pressure. Richard was staring a hole into the side of her face, patiently awaiting an answer. She opened her mouth, but nothing would come out. What the hell was going on? This was, what, her third major secret to get unveiled in the last 24 hours? The universe had to be laughing at her. It was rolling around on the floor, clutching its stomach, cackling and pointing as Angie got caught like a deer in headlights again and again.
