The Truthful Game

Chapter 2

"Alright class, please ensure you revise the chapter on Globalisation for your SEQ (Structured Essay Question) test!", the Social Studies teacher reminded the whole class.

All the students including Elizabeth could not even bother about the test. However, unlike every student, she was able to score well in any tests that were given and so she was not worried. The class thanked the teacher and waited patiently for the next lesson, History.

"Did you guys hear that Mrs. Shelby ain't coming because she's on maternity leave?", said Simon, the class joker.
"Dude, we don't even give a damn. She can't even teach the class.", said a student. "You can tell the whole fucking class are sleeping when she teaches!"

Before even ending the conversation, everyone rushed back to their seat when they heard a footstep approaching. Soon, Elizabeth heard the whole class cheered and looked up to a familiar face. It was Richard Matthews, the man she met on the train and now he was her substituted History class teacher.

"As you all know Mrs. Shelby is on her maternity leave and therefore I am substituting her for your class. Some of you may know me, whether it is in school or outside the compound.", said Richard who gave a familiar kind of eye contact to Elizabeth. "Those who doesn't know me, you will addressed me as Mr. Matthews."

All the girls in the class started squeaking over Richard or (professionally speaking) Mr. Matthews. How he looked handsome, charming and flattering. "Okay now my eyes are opened", Sophie told Elizabeth who was too busy doodling on her student handbook.

"Now we can stop the giggling and squeaking and get started with lesson.", said Mr. Matthews. "I believed Mrs. Shelby stopped at the chapter on Korean War. Now who is interested in sharing to the whole class about KW?"

Elizabeth still could not care less about the lesson. She knew she was good in History, especially how the subject itself was already flowing to her like a story. "Well well well, what do I have here?", she heard a voice approaching to her seat. Mr. Matthews indeed caught her not paying full attention and was aware she was not listening from the start.

"I think we have something to discuss about, Miss Bell.", Mr Matthews gave a wink to Elizabeth.
