It was no secret that Molly Weasley dreamed of having a daughter. After giving birth to six sons, she was still holding onto the hope that she could welcome a little girl into the large family. As much as she adored her boys, she was desperate to have a daughter that she could shower with love, knit beautiful baby girl clothes for, and teach to be independent like herself.

Her wish to have a daughter came true twice. Her next pregnancy gifted Arthur and herself with their first baby girl. But, before little Ginny arrived - while their son, Ronald was just a few months old, Dumbledore had come to pay them a visit.

The Weasley's knew that any meeting with Dumbledore meant important business. At the time, they were still coming to terms with the news of James and Lily Potter, whom had been killed just weeks prior. They believed that Dumbledore may have wanted to tell them more about that night, or even ask them to become the guardian's of young Harry Potter. The couple would have taken him home in a heartbeat, but this was not the reason for the wise wizard's request to see them.

Twenty-one days after the tragedy that shook the wizarding world, shrill cries had emitted from a derelict building in Knockturn Alley. Upon investigating, wizards and witches discovered that the noise was coming from a broken window on one of the upper abandoned floors. Rubeus Hagrid, the gatekeeper of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry didn't like the idea of the wrong people finding what he believed he had heard while passing through the dark area. His conscious told him that the cries were that of a child; one in distress. The friendly half-giant took it upon himself to find said child.

After entering the building before any others could, he tracked the noise back to the correct room and found exactly what he expected to see. There on the floor, resting in a pile of old raggedy cushions was a tiny baby wrapped in a blanket.

The blanket was luxurious compared to the pillows that had been used as a makeshift bed for the infant. The blanket was made of soft, pink wool and had been knitted finely with intricate designs. Someone had taken the time to make this blanket, and had put a lot of effort into it. Yet, they had left the child to fend for herself.

Having not had much experience around children younger than those at Hogwarts, Hagrid could only assume that the baby was a few months old. He cursed under his breath a few times as he gathered the little girl into his arms. Realising his error, he quickly excused himself for swearing in front of her.

A prideful grin appeared under his beard as the baby curled into his embrace and stopped crying. Hagrid rocked her gently while watching her fall into a peaceful asleep, just like young Harry Potter had done so when he took him to his Aunt and Uncle's house.

As the nameless infant fell into a comfortable slumber, Hagrid's attention turned to the piece of parchment that was tucked into the sleeve of the pristine white sleepsuit. Cautiously, he slipped the paper out and unfolded it using one hand, while continuing to peak at the child to ensure he wasn't disturbing her. The black cursive ink stood out boldly as he examined the writing.

Vault 1129

The bushy eyebrows of the half-giant's face furrowed deeply. Looking back to the little girl, he wondered what they would find in Gringotts Wizarding Bank Vault 1129. "I think I'd best be takin' you to see Professor Dumbledore," he muttered quietly.

Hagrid did exactly that on the same day, which lead to an investigation of who this infant belonged to. When Dumbledore brought the Ministry's attention to the news, they followed the first lead they had; the vault.

They learned that the vault had been registered one month prior under the name Evelyn. Though the goblins of Gringotts could only reveal that it was a hooded woman who had the vault stocked with coins, and they had not seen her since. When they were questioned to why they did not force the woman to uncover her identity when she opened the vault as regulations expected, it was revealed that bribery had taken place inside the Wizarding Bank.

The Minister at the time, Millicent Bagnold concluded that someone had left the money for the girl, and had decided that the parents did not want or could not look after the child. She declared that the money would belong to 'Evelyn' when she was older. No one else would be looking further into the matter. However, it was Dumbledore that convinced the Minister that putting Evelyn into a children's home would not be necessary. He already could think of two individuals that were perfect for raising the child.

Arthur and Molly Weasley accepted the proposal immediately. They would take the child in as one of their own. Given that it was difficult to tell how old Evelyn was, Dumbledore and the couple agreed that she and Ron were of similar ages. Thus, it was decided that she would attend Hogwarts the same year as their youngest son.

Molly Weasley didn't know that she would have a daughter of her own eleven months later. If she had known at the time, it wouldn't have mattered to her. Evelyn was not a temporary daughter until she and Arthur had one of their own, she was their daughter. Blood didn't matter to her, because the Wealsey's lived on the morals that blood was not important when it came to family.

And so, Evelyn grew up in the Weasley household with her six older brothers and one little sister. She had a happy childhood. It didn't bother her to know she was adopted, because the Wealseys were a blessing to her. They wanted her when no one else apparently did. She grow up learning how to be wise like Bill; to be daring like Charlie; to be confident in her intelligence like Percy; to be mischievous like the twins; and to have an appetite like Ron.

Even if she didn't have the red hair of her siblings, she was a Weasley. She wore that name like a medal of pride when she left for Hogwarts. Her Mother and Father shed a few tears that day, but they also shed tears of joy when she was sorted into Gryffindor like the rest of their children.

They wouldn't have cared which house Evelyn was sorted into, but being in Gryffindor meant they knew their little girl was there with her brothers.

Not so they could look after her, but so she could keep them in line.
