September First was a highly anticipated day in the Wizarding World, many emotions could be witnessed when examining the faces of those that stood on Platform 9¾. Parents would often shed tears as they anticipated how much they would miss their children in their absence, whereas the children were excited to return to their second home. Some of the first years were fearful of the first day, but older students knew that their nerves would ease and they would learn to love the school.

The journey to the station had been a rough one for the Weasleys that morning, as well as Harry and Hermione who had joined them. Even though the Ministry had provided cars to take them to King's Cross, it was still a struggle to have the large family ready in time and to move all their luggage for the new school term. Despite the dramatics of the start of the day, they all made it onto the Hogwarts Express just in time for departure.

"I didn't mean to blow her up. I just... I lost control," Harry defended himself as the group looked for an empty compartment.

Harry had finally explained to his friends what led to his stay in The Leaky Cauldron by order of the Minister of Magic. Evelyn knew that Harry's life was difficult staying with the Dursleys, but she wouldn't have expected him to lose control of his magic in their presence. It turned out Harry's magic had blown up his Aunt Marge like a balloon, which resulted in her flying out of the house and through the night sky of the muggle town. Apparently cruel and ignorance were characteristics that ran through the Dursley bloodline, she had decided.

While Harry was embarrassed by the incident, his three friends had varying reactions. Evelyn was sympathetic with the boy, wishing he could stay with the Weasley family to avoid an accident like that happening in the future if he remained in the care of his Aunt and Uncle. Hermione's voice had increased significantly as she continued to scowl the boy. Though her behaviour may have been mistaken for anger, it really was due to concern. Ron, of course, found the whole situation hilarious.

"Brilliant," the redhead boy had laughed.

"Honestly, Ron, it's not funny! Harry was lucky not to be expelled," Hermione snapped as they walked along the carriages. They occasionally peaked into the windows of the compartments they passed to see if any had enough seating for the four of them, preferably to themselves.

"I was lucky not to be arrested actually," Harry stated as he continued to lead the way.

"I still think it was brilliant."

Evelyn was quick to turn around and smack her brother's arm as she gave him a glare of disapproval. Ron identified the look in her eyes as it was identical to their mother's, the same one she would used to tell them to stop. The smile remained on his face despite the warning, prompting the brunette to roll her eyes as she turned to face froward again.

They were soon able to find a quiet compartment with enough space for them to sit comfortably for the journey up to the Hogwarts Castle in the Scottish Highlands. However, there was a figure huddled up in the corner beside the window.

"Come on. Everywhere else is full," Hermione voiced as she gestured the others inside.

The group gathered into the compartment and closed the door quietly behind them to not disturb the gentleman already present. Ron and Hermione moved over to the cushioned seating on the left of the compartment with Crookshanks' crate rested beside them, while Harry and Evelyn sat opposite them on the same bench as the man. Harry stretched to put his bag on to luggage shelf above them before taking Evelyn's satchel to place it beside him. She thanked him before they both settled onto the bench.
