I was wondering the whole way to the mall, what did this make us? I felt like we were in an unofficial relationship, but Chris was so stolid I couldn't tell what he COULD'VE been thinking. So I sat quietly and drove the car praying that he'd make the first move.
I know it was a quick jump from hating him to having some sort of feelings for him, but that first kiss was mind blowing. In the back of my mind I guess I always wanted to date a guy like Chris, but I knew it wouldn't be acceptable.
And when he took up for me in front of Jason changed the way I saw Chris entirely. Honestly I would've eventually handled Jason myself, but having Chris do it made me feel more safe and it kind of turned me on. All those tattoos and his build, oh my gosh I swooned at the thought.
We pulled up to the mall and I got out still not saying anything. I made sure I had my wallet handy and then caught up to Chris. I decided to approach him about a different topic.
"Chris, when you threw Jason to the ground... Why did you pat your hip?" I asked looking over at him. He swallowed and then shrugged his shoulders.
I sucked my teeth, "Come on now, Chris. Don't play." He remained silent and stared straight forward.
"I promise I won't get mad," I pleaded. He glanced over at me and then swallowed again.
"You promise?" He asked looking dead in my eyes.
"Promise," I nodded keeping my eyes locked on his.
"I was looking for my gun," he admitted in a hushed tone. My eyes grew wide.
"Y-you carry a gun?!" I exclaimed in a whisper.
"Yeah... I always did back home. It became a habit," he replied shrugging. He made this seem like it was trivial, this was HUGE.
"You weren't gunna use it on him were you" I inquired softly. He noticed my scared expression and softened up his demeanor by putting his hands on my hips.
"I'm not gunna lie, I was thinking about it. But I'm glad I didn't. I don't like to see you scared," He answered pulling me closer. I licked my lips and placed my hands on his shoulders. Now I had nothing to say.
"I'm glad you told the truth," I whispered on his lips as we slowly leaned in. Before we could even kiss, I heard two deep familiar voices.
"Yo!! Chris bro!" One of the voices said. I automatically knew it was Shorty. Who else was with him? Jojo of course. I mean, when do these two ever separate?
"I see you, bruh!" Jojo joked as he did that weird handshake thing with Chris, who was now sort of embarrassed.
"You taught her how to have-" Shorty started to inquire, but Chris covered his mouth.
"I'll uh.. See you two back at the dorm," Chris nodded his head towards the mall entrance widening his eyes, making them throw there hands up in defense. What was that all about?
"Let's go inside and hope these fools don't follow us," he said grabbing my hand. We entered the mall through a different entrance and then made our way down to Abercrombie and Fitch.
I knew that wasn't Chris' style being that he had tattoos from head to toe and, no lie, a thuggish swag. He didn't look half bad in the sweater and kakis today, so I figured why not see what else looked good on him.
I skimmed through the clearance first, that's where some of the cutest stuff are and happen to be half off, and picked up a navy blue sweater with the small logo on the left breast area. I held it up to him and then nodded my head with approval. I threw it across my arm and then continued on.
