Jane stared in awe at the restaurant while Amanda went into the back room to hang up her jacket and bag.

"It's almost like déjà vu..." Jane mumbled.

"What's that?" Amanda asked as she walked up to Jane.

"Oh, nothing. I was just saying something about how that girl in the drawing looks like you," Jane said, pointing at a drawing up on the wall. A small smile crept along Amanda's face.

"That's because it is. My cousin drew it a few weeks ago when her mom brought her up to see me. They're the only ones in my family who really... Uh, care." Amanda stuck her hands in her pockets, a faraway look in her eyes.

Jane blinked. "What about your parents?"

"Oh... They kinda gave up on me when I chose not to go to college." Amanda turned to Jane and shrugged, as if it were no big deal. As if it didn't bother her.

"Doesn't that... make you sad?" Jane asked, sitting on the edge of a table. Before Amanda had a chance to answer, Jane heard a faint whirring noise behind her. She pushed herself off of the table and whirled around.

Standing on a stage, were three animatronics. A blue bunny, a yellow chicken, and a brown bear. They looked almost like gigantic toys, with their shiny surface and rosy cheeks.

"Oh my god..." Jane whispered. She walked up to the stage, staring up at the animatronics. "What..."

Over by the corner, Jane saw light reflect off of something. She turned and saw a mangled fox animatronic laying on the floor. It was missing an eye, and it looked girlish.

Then, Jane saw the giant box. Faint music was playing from it, and she couldn't quite place the tune. Jane was overwhelmed. The old restaurant never had so many mascots. She nearly leaped out of her skin when she heard laughter.

A smiling little boy holding balloons was placed near what looked like a small carousel. Jane walked over to it and bent over, her hands on her knees. She raised one hand and softly stroked the boy's cheek. The plastic felt sticky against her skin.

"Why is it so... creepy?" asked Jane. Amanda laughed, a little chirp of a giggle.

"That's what I always wondered," she said, walking over to Jane and kneeling down beside it. "It's name is Balloon Boy. The other employees just call it BB though."

Jane pointed her thumb over at the box. "And what's with the giant box with the weird music?" she asked. Amanda looked at the box with a perplexed look on her face, but then it turned into one of recognition.

"Oh, that old thing has a lot of names. Some call it the Puppet, some call it the Marionette, and others call it the Puppet master."

"What do you call it?"

"Eh. Weird creepy robot."

Jane laughed. "It's creepy, too?"

Amanda shrugged and nodded. "Mhm. It's got this black shirt kinda thing, and these white buttons. And it's face. Good god. It's white, and these purple-blue lines that go down its face like tears. And, just like everything else in the crazy place, it has those red cheeks. It's almost like a robot clown or something. Creepy."

Jane frowned. "I guess to kids, creepy is the new cute, huh?"

"Uh, yeah. It gets annoying sometimes." Amanda's voice turned super high pitched. "Mangle is so pretty! Bonnie is so cute! Oh, so is Chica and Freddy!"

"Mangle?"

"Yeah. That fox-thing in the corner. The kids take it apart so much, that we've just started calling it 'the Mangle.' It originally was supposed to be like that fox from the other restaurant, Foxy."

"Foxy?" Jane said nonchalantly, trying to seem disinterested, despite being absolutely, completely, and totally intrigued.

"Uhhh yeah, I think he was a pirate or something. He bit a kid."

Jane flinched. Don't remind me. Just thinking about the Bite made her head hurt. "Oh? Did they ever find out why?"

Amanda shrugged. "Hhmmm... I think they said it was faulty wiring, or that maybe someone tampered with his ability to recognize people. I'm not sure. I was pretty little when it actually happened."

"Ah... So was I."

"You know about the Bite?" Amanda asked.

Jane stood, ridged. "Know? I was there when it happened."

"Wh-"

A loud clank! echoed through the restaurant, making both girls fall silent.

"What... was that?" Jane asked. Foxy? she thought hopefully.

"I'm... not sure... but I don't necessarily want to check it out, either.... We shouldn't be here past closing time anyway," Amanda said uneasily. Jane resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

"I'll check it out. Maybe I should take Mangle's head as a mask or something and scare off any intruders. K?" Jane suggested, walking over to Mangle and ripping her head away.

Not waiting for a response from Amamda, Jane crept down the dimly lit hallway, a faint shadow being cast onto the wall.
