Chapter 2

"So remind me again why I have go to this party?"

I see Jen, the makeup artist, roll her eyes through the mirror. "Because you have to, end of discussion. Now keep still unless you want me to poke you in the eye with this eyeliner" I groan, but do as she says nevertheless.

My bed awaits me, not long now my love, we will be reunited soon.

My stylist, Diana, has done an amazing job as usual in making me look amazing. She picked out a low plunge, black bodycon dress for me; paired with some 4 inch silver jimmy choos and wowza.

"There! All ready" declares Jen. Before I can even reply, Diana is ushering me to stand up and face her. She gives me a once over and nods.

"Perfect," she smiles. "Now remember to-"

I cut her off, finishing off the line she always gives me "-strut my stuff, I have it, so I should work it."

She smiles proudly. "My little duckie, you're learning so fast."

I scrunch my eyebrows at her.

"Duckie? Diana you sound like an old lady." She gasps in mock horror.

"Old?! I'm 34 and in my prime!" She exclaims. "Have you ever seen such beautiful skin?" She dramatically puts the back of her hand against her forehead like a damsel in distress and we both start laughing.

Suddenly, a piercing sound cuts through our laughter.

"Selena!" My bedroom door flies open against its hinges and in walks my older sister, Caitlyn. "Have you seen my car keys? I think I left them here last time I was over." I shake my head.

"Hello to you too." I drawl, mockingly. I then smile at her craziness. Her smile mirrors mine as she pulls me into a tight hug, sighing.

"Sorry, sorry! I am just stressed, I can't find them." This wouldn't be a first. She loses everything.

"You look amazing Sel!" She gushes. Her eyes light up as she takes in my appearance.

"I am being forced to go to this party tonight," I grumble.

"What a tough life you have," she says sarcastically. I glare at her.

Cait is 22, and like me she has brown hair and dark brown eyes. However, she is a little taller than me, something I've always been a tiny bit envious of. I live on my own now, but Cait and I used to live together for 2 years before she moved in with her fiancé, James. I do miss those days, but she's really happy, so that's all that matters to me.

Besides my mum, dad, Cait and I, there's my older brother Xander. He's the eldest of our siblings at 26. I often tease him about being old, but he really doesn't look much older than 22. However, he is married and his wife, Belle, is expecting at the moment.

I AM NEARLY AN AUNTIE!

Yes, I am very excited. I have already bought so many presents it's unreal. That baby will be the most loved baby in the whole world, especially considering how doting and maternal Belle herself is already.

"Okay, well I have to go anyway, James is waiting in his car outside. Dinner with his parents" she explains. I stifle a laugh at this. James' mum is obsessed with Cait, as in hugs and kisses-all-over-the-face obsessed. It's cute and better than her hating Cait, but also very funny. Cait is very touchy on personal space.

I glance at the time, which is probably a mistake. Diana's eyes follow mine and she then turns to me so rapidly that it's a miracle her neck doesn't snap.
