Chapter 7
There's a brief pause after Zach's question.
"Why would you want her number?" Ava asks, the irritation in her voice is so evident. Zach just ignores her question completely and looks over at me expectantly.
As rude as Ava is, she's making a valid point. Zach having my number does seem a bit pointless. But then again, it is just my number, and honestly, I don't see the big deal about it. If he does try annoying me with spams of texts then I will just block him. Simple.
They all seem to be looking at me, waiting for a response.
"Give me your phone" I turn to Zach, holding my hand out. Surprise flashes across his face as he realises I am complying with his request. He then takes his phone from his back pocket, the latest iPhone just like mine, and I proceed to type my number in, handing it back to him afterwards.
"Are you serious right now?" Ava continues her tantrum. "What are you going to do with her number?" Her is right here. Rude cow.
"Why does there need to be a reason. Having someone's number is handy for anything. Stop acting like a jealous girlfriend" he rolls his eyes. Burn.
I try to refrain from showing my surprise at Zach's bluntness towards Ava. There's honesty and then there's being savage.
Unexpectedly, I feel Nate's hand cometo rest on my waist as he begins to pull me closer to him.
"Alright, well see you later bro" Nate sounds quite hurried all of a sudden, already leading me towards the villa again.
"YOUR CALLER ID PICTURE IS GOING TO BE ONE FROM A HALF NAKED SHOOT OR SOMETHING" Zach calls out after me. Charming.
"WHATEVER HOT SHOT" I call back, not bothering to turn around. Nate's grip on me further tightens as though he's holding on to me for dear life. I turn to see his expression is one of extreme concentration, his eyes set on the floor.
"Are you alright?" I ask as we walk through the villa towards the front door. He nods and looks over at me, seemingly back to his usual smiley self.
"Of course" he replies. I nod and choose to not over think it. I get into his car, Nate opens the door for me again, which I find adorable. It's the little things that make me smile. Yes I know, talk about cliché. There's nothing wrong in finding a gentleman attractive though.
Once we're back on the road, I give Nate my address and then tip my head back on the leather seat, closing my eyes. The sun is starting to set now, showing just how quickly time really did fly by today; I hardly even noticed.
The warm summer's breeze at this time of day is definitely my favourite thing about summer; especially now since the convertible roof of the car is down. I also just love car journeys, I have ever since I was small. I suppose it's the fact that you could be heading to a specific location, or you may have no idea where you're going, and that prospect in itself is exciting. Whenever I am stressed, I find myself going for a walk or drive, the infinite number of possibilities gives me a sense of freedom and power.
"You okay sleepy?" Nate's voice appears.
I open my eyes, blinking a few times to adjust to the brightness. It's crazy how quickly the sky changes in a matter of minutes. We are immersed in the orangey glow of the sunset now.
"Yeah. I can't believe today went by so fast" I sigh, looking over at Nate. His eyes are on the road, but whenever he gets the opportunity he looks over at me.
"It's been a good day, well apart from the killer hangover this morning" he chuckles, I can't help but smile at that.
"True, it was not pleasant"
