Chapter 3
"I'm very surprised we haven't met before" Zach counters. The loud music, still booming through the walls, means that I strain to hear him.
"And why's that?" I ask, genuinely confused.
He just stares at me for a few moments, not responding, then suddenly he snaps out of whatever trance he was in.
He shrugs. "You're hot." Blunt much?
Jess reacts to this with a gasp. A very, very loud one.
You can always count on my best friend for the theatrics.
Jess, we aren't in a movie, please don't.
Zach smirks at her reaction. I feel my eyes narrowing at him. He is so arrogant.
He clocks my expression and looks even more amused. Again, his eyes flicker across to Jess; who is now standing next to me.
"You're not too bad either." He comments off handedly. "Not quite my standard though." I can almost hear my jaw hit the ground. I am so appalled.
How rude.
I can feel myself getting riled up, he seems to like my reaction though as he continues smirking.
A rational person would stop themselves before going off on a tangent. I'm not rational.
"Okay, listen here mister. You do not talk to my friend like that, and you do not talk to me like that either. We are not objects! Do you have no manners?" I huff, glaring at him.
My heels give me a few extra inches so that I am at least a little bit intimidating.
A little, but not enough.
Before Zach can respond, another brunette guy comes and stands next to him, casually slinging his arm across Zach's shoulder.
"Ignore him, he's a bit tipsy." The brunette guy explains. Zach tries shoving him away but the mystery guy just laughs, pulling Zach into a playful headlock.
"Dude! Knock it off" Zach growls. The other guy let's go of him, rolling his eyes.
"Drama queen" he says. Zach mutters something under his breath, but due to the loud music, I don't catch it. The mystery guy turns to look at me properly now and I feel as though I've seen him before. A strange sense of recognition.
He is very attractive, but I can't quite put my finger on where I know him from.
Is everyone here hot?
Mystery guy then smiles warmly at me and Jess; he seems friendly. Friendlier than Zach.
"Hi, I'm Nathan, most call me Nate." I return his smile.
"It's nice to meet you Nate, I'm Selena" I introduce myself.
"And I'm Jess, and-- OHHHHH IS THAT A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN I SEE?" I follow her gaze and see her eyes fixated on a large chocolate fountain on the far end of the room. It's placed at the center of a large table, the chocolate oozing down slowly and a selection of chopped fruit and marshmallows are placed on the table too for dipping...Why helloooo there.
"Indeed it is" Zach says in response, he is obviously feeling really entertained and pleased with himself. That smirk, no matter how attractive, needs to be wiped off his face.
I decide to focus on the chocolate fountain again, it is more worthy of my attention. It looks so good. Surely it wouldn't hurt to just go for it.
No. Refrain. SWIMWEAR shoot in 2 freaking weeks. Repeat TWO weeks.
