The bookshelf moved.

Not abruptly.

Not with the loud creak one would expect from an old wooden cabinet.

Instead, it slid apart with an almost silent mechanical hum, the hidden mechanism working so smoothly that for a moment Ishqi wondered if she had imagined it.

She instinctively took two slow steps backwards.

Her eyes remained fixed on the widening gap as a cool stream of air escaped from the room concealed behind it.

"...What..."

The playful curiosity that had been dancing in her eyes moments ago slowly faded, replaced by genuine surprise.

A completely hidden room revealed itself before her.

It wasn't decorated.

It wasn't luxurious.

And it certainly wasn't what she had expected to find inside the office of one of the country's biggest businessmen.

The lights inside glowed a soft bluish white, illuminating a room that felt... different.

Serious.

Almost intimidating.

The walls were lined with enormous digital screens.

Some displayed maps filled with coloured markings.

Some showed live CCTV footage from different locations.

Others were completely black, as if waiting to be activated.

In the centre stood a long matte-black table.

Neatly arranged files lay upon it.

Every folder carried a code instead of a name.

No unnecessary papers.

No clutter.

Everything looked perfectly organized.

One entire side of the room was occupied by locked glass cabinets.

Inside them...

Communication devices.

Encrypted laptops.

Satellite phones.

Bulletproof vests.

And...

Several firearms.

Ishqi unconsciously held her breath.

"Veer..."

The word escaped her lips in nothing more than a whisper.

For the first time since entering Rajveer's office, she felt like she had stepped into a world she had never known existed.

She slowly walked inside.

Each footstep echoed softly against the polished floor.

Her fingertips brushed over one of the tables.

Cold.

Smooth.

Every object seemed carefully placed, almost as if someone counted the distance between each file.

Her gaze wandered further.

There were photographs.

Lots of them.

Business award ceremonies.

Charity events.

But aming these official pictures, there was a picture of Maa laughing with a baby boy on her lap while another Maa was standing behind them.
