Post Timeline Stress Disorder (I)

Just very small ficlets in the time travel au.

This is the 60th chapter in this book as I'm writing...

1. Phone Bills

Damon had taken a page out of the Jeremy Gilbert handbook for the Mourning and Grieving. He had prepaid the bills to his brother's brick of phone every month.

Just so he could listen to Stefan talk, autodial, voicemails, messages, notes, anything.

He did that without fail.

So one fine morning in 2009, when it suddenly strikes him that it was the day of payment. He gets himself out of bed, opens his computer, then realises that the payment website for the phone company doesn't exist.

That doesn't deter him though.

He immediately calls the helpline and demands details of a phone number that doesn't exist yet. Third time's the charm because it is when he is regaling his problem the the third time that it strikes him.

This is the past, Stefan probably has his old phone, one that he didn't break or drowned with or burn or lost.

He pays his own bills.

Damon has no need to stay on top of it. If his phone is destroyed, decommissioned or all the messages are lost, Stefan can simply buy a new phone and create new autodial.

This is not the future.

Yet, Damon calls Stefan and hopes that he won't lift. The irony.

He smiles when he hears the autodial and it's not sad.

2. Papa Lockwoof

Another thing Damon didn't fucking know about this timeline was if Tyler's dad had ever turned. He was a douchebag, he was abusive, he had a lot of rage, he ticked all the boxes. But he didn't know.

So, Damon is kind of glad he's dead, one less wolf to worry about. But he decides that just for the sake of it, it would be better if they all had a slumber party during the full moon.

Speaking of the Cellar, he wonders if Mason ever came here to turn, which sets out a whole other issue.

If he could get to him before Katherine does, maybe he could save them the trouble, but what if that pushes him towards Katherine? what if she bypasses mason and has a whole new pawn? Maybe hayley will come to mystic falls sooner? Wouldn't that be fun... mini klaus, born and raised in mystic falls.

Then he realises, this is a fool's errand Katherine probably already has her grubby paws in him and trying to check was stupid.

So, the Salvatores and any vampires Damon likes are banned from going out on new moon.

Then he wonders if Klaus' blood is still the cure, even when he was cursed. Then he decides that he shall not divulge that information unless Stefan gets bit.
