Elijah adjusted his cuff looking at the squabble unravelling in front of him.

"What are we looking for again?" Enzo drawled with  the same tone Elijah regularly used whenever Klaus and Kol were squabbling, "all the vomit inducing details have turned my brain into a bloody meaty mush.."

All  these years and he couldn't teach his wards the etiquette of speech, at least Enzo sounded better than Damon. But he nearly sounded like Klaus which annoyed Elijah to no end.

Damon waved the dagger, his family's sole enemy for centuries, if only they could make it work on Klaus too, "this, there is another one of these stashed in this stupidly enormous house somewhere and we needed to find it like yesterday..."

"Such a shame I can't stick one of these in you" Enzo proclaims looking at him.  Elijah sighs, "Rude."

Enzo tilts his head, holding  weak glare. "I told you I had pressing matters here..." Elijah explains again, "I did not know that Augustine was back up." Because he owes Enzo that. An apology for almost letting him get captured again, when he hadn't even spent half a century out in the world.

"I thought you were shagging up with maggie" Damon supplies, Elijah clicks his tongue, "she's 82" Enzo throws a priceless vase at Damon who ducks and lets it ruefully shatter.

"It's such a shame" Enzo supplies after a minute or two, "that your father is back in the land of living." Elijah... shares that sentiment, Enzo was always the one more giving with his empathy, more open.

"This town has a penchant to making people return" Elijah sighed, "even when they want nothing to do with it."

"Well I for one can't wait to leave it behind" Enzo replied, parroting what he has been saying since the moment he has set foot in mystic falls.

"Will you stop yapping and find that dagger" Damon snaps, he seems to be in a mood lately, "we can get as far away from this town as we would like to."

"What crawled up your ass" Enzo snaps back. Damon just sneers. Elijah sighs, "the dagger's not here."

It is when they're in a different room that Damon speaks, "Stefan wants to leave town." Elijah dubs that for himself as the younger Salvatore wanting to leave big brother behind. Enzo has less constraint than him and rolls his eyes, loudly, how that is possible he doesn't know but with his family and other things, he has learned not to question such things.

"He wants to help Elena and then just blow town to drive off in to sunset" Damon continues unperturbed and wallowing. Uhhh... of course it was about Stefan. Most things about the elder Salvatore had something to do with his little brother.

After the reunion they shall not talk about (there were some ugly tears, some heart grabs (not throws) a lot of liquor) they stuck together more or less, for varying reasons, Damon prominently ran off because he missed his brother among other things. Sometimes he didn't even meet him, just watched and left. Things were, in Damon's words, rocky... which was why Elijah didn't officially meet Stefan until Damon kinda killed him and Enzo didn't meet him until Silas was trying to kill him.
