"Layla?"
"Yes Freddie?" Layla asked.
"Theres something I've got to say"
"Go ahead"
"It's really important you don't tell the other three"
"I won't" Layla assured as she dismounted her pet unicorn.
"Layla"
"Yes"
"Layla"
"YES"
"Layla?" This time the voice was more solid as she was being sucked from her dream into a vacuum of harsh reality and Freddie's familiar face opposite hers.
"Hey" he said.
"No."
"Morning" He persisted.
"NO" Layla repeated rolling away from him to discover she was in Freddie's once untouched bed. She was a bit too enthusiastic with the rolling and she cascaded to the floor taking the entire duvet with her in a cocoon resembling catastrophe.
"Wow you really do like to FALL" Freddie said again with a wink as he peered over the edge of the bed.
"Why am I in here?"
"You came in here to sleep because you had no bed, I slept on the sofa" Freddie explained.
"Right"
Layla shuffled out of the room having to clamber over the, still very askew, sofa. Once out of the door she cleansed herself from the disturbing dream by shaking herself out and continuing her morning routine.
She wandered into the kitchen and noticed Kevin perched on the island counter in the toilet position over the fruit bowl.
"Are you trying to squeeze a banana out?" Layla asked with an amused expression.
"No, I think you'll find that food is digested before it comes out that end" Nina said genuinely missing Layla's sarcasm.
"No I mean.." Layla began to explain but then saw Nina's dazed expression. "Nevermind."
"No" Kevin said between incredibly dodjy noises of strain.
"Give birth to an orange? Or are you expecting a pear?"
"Layla, do you know what 'giving birth' means?" Nina asked with her patronising voice. "When a mumy and daddy..."
"I know"
"are feeling particularly saucy.."
"I KNOW"
"They have lots of hot..."
"I don't see what hot salsa sauce has to do with delivering babies?" Kevin inputted. "The baby comes from the Mummy's tummy Layla that's all you need to know.... trust me."
"Did Freddie tell you that?" Nina asked.
"Yes"
"Me too" Nina squealed.
Freddie and Layla both looked at her in disbelief.
"You only met him two days a.."
"I CAN'T HANDLE THIS ANYMORE" Kevin yelled.
Layla took his hand and said calmly "That's what every woman feels like with their first baby, you'll be fine trust me."
"Wow, humans really are stupid." Nina said quietly before walking out of the room.
"NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND I'VE LOST MY TRANSFIGURATION!"
"Figure?" Layla asked still playing along. "Yes most woman feel that way too, it'll come back."
