Teenage Rodeo Life

Chapter 6

Today is the rodeo, thank goodness!! I woke up around 7:00 that morning the rodeo wasn't until 7:00 that night. Which it's in Jefferson Texas so 3 hours to go. I'm ready for this journey being next to my sister for 3 hours. After what happened the other night I wish my sister would move away. I was up in my room getting ready until I was interrupted.

Mom- Addie get down here now! Yelling up the stairs

Addie- Coming

Mom- So what happened the other night?

Addie- What do you mean?

Mom- Don't play stupid with me young lady!

Addie- What about the other night?

Mom- When you were pissed at the world and you started flirting with Nicole Jennings boyfriend! Her mom called me and told me you were sleeping with him. Is that true cause if so you can forget about tonight.

Addie- What the hell no I never slept with Corey! Why would you believe her? Plus they aren't dating anymore.

Mom- I would think again! She showed me a picture of them together. I was mad why would he lie to me already?

Addie- Ok whatever but I haven't slept with anyone since Kaden and I broke up.

After all that arguing I was making sure I had all my things for the rodeo. When I was out catching my horses Rango and Diva my phone went off. I didn't look at it until I got in the pickup. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw that Corey texted me. I just rolled my eyes and didn't reply. I put my phone back in my pocket. We got 30 minutes into the drive when I got another text. I checked my phone again and it was Corey. This time I replied.

Corey- Why the hell are you ignoring me?

Addie- Well maybe because you never told me you and Nicole got back together. 

Corey- What in the hell are you talking about? Why would you think that?

Addie- Well first of all she said you and I were sleeping with each other and then her mom contacted my mom and said you two were together. There was a picture of you two together and it looked like you were happy so I don't understand why you are talking to me.

Corey- I can't believe that she did that. When we broke up she was with my best friend. I told her we were done and then the other night she saw me and I was texting you. SO she probably thought you and I were together.

Addie- Maybe but I don't understand I got in trouble and if you and I suppose-ably slept together I couldn't go to my rodeo. Which I need to do really good and she is getting in my way so she can win.

Corey- Wow I don't know why I am talking to you! I thought you weren't the selfish kind I guess I was wrong about you too.

Addie- What in the hell! I'm not selfish, I have a great opportunity to go to the American and that is one of the hardest to get into. If I don't make it this year I always have my life ahead of me to do it. What I meant is she is getting in my head so she can try and get into the American. 

Corey- Oh ok, I'm sorry its just every girl I was with was either selfish or wanted attention. But with you it's different!

Addie- Its ok well I just got here so I better go.

Corey- Ok good luck text me afterwards?

Addie- Thanks and yeah I will!!

It was my turn in the breakaway. I was riding my horse Rango he is the best! I was riding into the box just thinking about my opportunity. The song She's Country by Jason Aldean was playing. I nodded my head and the calf started running then I felt my horse take off. I had a smile on my face when the announcer called my time of 4.5 seconds. I patted Rango and went to go get Diva. I got back to the trailer and got Diva ready as I was riding up I saw Nicole giving me the death stare. I just smiled at her and then headed towards the gate. As I was entering the gate Here For The Party By Gretchen Wilson came on. 

Well I'm an eight ball shooting double fisted drinking son of a gun

I wear my jeans a little tight

I got done with my run and as I was riding back I heard the announcer say. Everyone that was Addison Lee Hartsgrave her time was a 16.22. We left the rodeo and I won it which meant I am close on going to The American!! 

~Few Weeks Later~

Its been a few weeks since my last rodeo. My last rodeo is in a couple weeks then I am going to the American in March. I am really excited! I couldn't have made it this far without the support from my friends and family. After my rodeo in Jefferson I have been working on my sisters barrel horse. I was sitting at the table eating breakfast when my sister walked in with Kaden.

Ava- Hey Addie!

Addie- Yo as I was looking at my practice runs on my mac laptop.

Kaden- Are you still pissed off at us?

Addie- Well if I was still pissed at you would I be talking to you, or be in the same room as you?

Ava- Addie! You can stop acting like a bitch and grow up already!

Addie- What in the hell Ava! I need to grow up, I think you need to. Don't you remember your the one who broke Kaden and I up. You should be proud.

Ava- Oh my goodness stop acting like that! I am truly sorry for that I've been apologizing so much. Is there anything I can do?

Addie- You know what there is. Dump his ass then I will see if we can be sisters again. I said with a smile on my face and put my bowl in the sink. 

Ava- No, Addie I'm not dumping him. 

Addie- Ok then you can go live your life without me in it and I hope you're happy with that asshole. Just saying your gonna need it!

Kaden- Seriously stop! I've had enough I really like your sister.

Addie- Great so now I know you never loved me! I hope you two are happy! I said as I slammed the door and ran to the barn crying. 

I got my sister's horse saddled up and went to the arena. I was practicing when my dad rode up next to me. 

Dad- Hey kiddo are you ok?

Addie- Yeah dad I'm fine. I just have some work to do

Dad- Ok 

I watched my dad ride off then continued working.
