Chapter 8

~Back to real life~

I slowly started opening my eyes. Hearing the beeping of the monitors and people talking in the hallway. I tried to say something but nothing came out. I felt slight pain in my abdomen and pain in my head. What really happened? I heard footsteps coming into my room.

Nurse- Doctor Blair she's awake now.

Doctor Blair- Great! I was getting worried.

Nurse- I was to, I will go get her parents.

Doctor Blair- No, I think it would be better if I did.

Nurse- Ok

~Out in the waiting room~

My mom was pacing back and forth biting her fingernails. My dad was at home with my sister. 

Doctor Blair- Mrs. Hartsgrave we have some news about your daughter. 

My mom stopped pacing and walked up to the Doctor. 

Mom- What is wrong now?

Doctor Blair- You can see her she is awake now. 

Mom- Oh, thank you doctor. I heard someone come into my room. I moved my head to the side and saw that it was my mom. 

Mom- Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?

Addie- I feel like crap. I am in a lot of pain.

Mom- Hang on I will get a nurse.

My mom asked for a nurse and the nurse came in. She had some pills and gave me some water. I took my pills and saw my mom wasn't there. I heard her talking to someone on the phone in the hallway. She came back in and smiled at me. 

Addie- Who was that?

Mom- Oh, it was your dad. 

Addie- Is he coming?

Mom- Yeah he is. I think you need to get some rest. She ran her hand over the top of my head and kissed my forehead. I fell back asleep those pain pills worked like a miracle. When I woke up I was hoping that my dad was there, but the seat was empty. I was really upset now. Why didn't he come see me? What's really going on. I kept asking myself questions and then soon fell back asleep. 

~The Next Morning~

I woke up the next morning. The nurse came in and checked on me. I was sitting there all alone. The doctor said I would be going home tomorrow. I was just thinking about some things when I heard a knock on the door. I looked up and saw it was Corey and he brought me roses with a get well balloon. I smiled and told him to come and sit by me. He sat the roses down with the other flowers and came and sat by me. I was happy that he was here. 

Corey- How are you feeling?

Addie- I'm sore still and I'm missing you like crazy. 

Corey- Yeah I was missing you a lot. I waited and waited for your mom to call. I came one night when she wasn't here and sat by you all night. He had a tear fall so I reached over and wiped it from his face. 

Addie- The doctor said it was a miracle, but I'm glad you are here. I started crying I guess seeing Corey cry made me weak. He wiped the tears from my face and kissed me. He stayed there for a few hours then he told me he had to go to work. 

I was waiting for my dad to come. I was staring out my window when I heard footsteps near my door, I turned only to see Ava and Kaden. I turned my head back to the window. Ava made her way to the chair that was beside my bed. She had a concerned look on her face. Her and Kaden exchanged looks then started talking to me.

Ava- Who got those roses for you?

Addie- Corey did. I said as a smile lit up on my face.

Kaden- How are you feeling?

Addie- I am feeling ok, I guess. How was everyone at home?

Ava- Mom was going crazy, she couldn't sleep so she was watching movies and cleaning a lot. Dad didn't say much. I honestly have been going crazy too. Addie, I am so sorry for being together with Kaden.

Addie- Ava, it's ok, I understand I was upset at first, but now I have Corey. Plus you two are cute together. 

Ava- Awe thanks sis. Get better we love you. 

Addie- Love you too. They got up and left. It was around 10:00 pm when my mom came back. I was really upset my dad didn't come. I looked up at my mom with a sad look on my face. 

Mom- I know sweetie. I am disappointed that he didn't come either. I started to cry my mom came over and held me. She ended up staying at the hospital with me. I am sure this is her first time getting some sleep this week. 

~Next Morning~ 

I woke up the next morning. The doctor came and told me that I could go home. I was excited to be home. I got up very slowly and put my sweatpants on and then a t-shirt. We got out of the hospital and started heading for home. When we got home I helped my mom bring the flowers in and putting some water in them. It has been a long week. I know for sure I will be sore for a while. I walked into my dad's office to see him on the phone, which doesn't surprise me. He hung up the phone and smiled at me I just glared at him. 

Dad- What did I do wrong?

Addie- You told mom that you were going to come to the hospital. I waited for you and you didn't come so yeah I am a little pissed at you.

Dad- Sweetie I'm sorry I had so much work to do.

Addie- Mom came when she had work so you know what don't even try to talk to me for awhile. You really disappointed me dad I believed you were going to come. I guess my father doesn't really care about me. I turned away and walked very slowly up my stairs.
