The next morning, when Christian finally awoke he saw Satine sat out on the balcony, in a chair, still dressed in her nightie. He stayed in bed watching her as she hummed to herself, it sounded vaguely like Come What May. A smile crept across his face. She looked so beautiful in the sunlight. Just then there was a knocking on the door and Satine got up to go answer it.
"No, you go and sit back down. You're supposed to be resting remember!" Christian called to her with a cheeky grin on his face. She smiled and sat back down as instructed. Christian then rose from the bed, ruffled his hair and rubbed his eyes. He gave out a long yawn before opening the door. It was Toulouse.
"Good Morning Christian!" Toulouse said before walking straight in. "How are you?"
"I'm fine Toulouse, and you?" Toulouse was now walking away from him and out onto the balcony to go and see Satine.
"I am good thank you!" He shouted back to him. Christian closed the door and wondered outside to the other two.
"...You have to tell him soon." Toulouse finished whispering.
"Tell who what soon?" Christian asked. Toulouse jumped and gave out a little scream.
"Christian my dear, don't go poking around like that. You scared me!" Christian ignored him before asking again.
"Tell who what soon?" He looked from Toulouse to Satine, waiting for an answer.
"It's nothing Christian." Satine stated, trying to persuade him. She got up off the chair but nearly fell back down, Christian rushed to her side and helped her back down into the chair.
"The doctor said you had to rest, now rest. I am going to go see him now. See you soon." And with Christian saying that he walked straight out of the room, without even a backwards glance or a kiss goodbye.
Christian was furious. What was she hiding from me? What was SO important that she couldn't share it with ME!? He punched the wall and then regretted the decision to. Not only was he now in a foul mood but his knuckles were bleeding. He scrunched up his hand and walked all the way back through the doors of the Rouge. He walked up the steps and down the corridor to the last door right at the end. He then knocked on.
"Yes" Came the doctors voice from inside. "Come in." Christian turned the handle and walked in. The doctor was sat at his desk looking at a bunch of papers. His room was just a little bit smaller then Zidler's office. The doctor seemed to have papers and books piled all over his room. There was a red leather sofa in the corner of the room and one big window right at the back that let in the most amount of light that it could. "Ah, hello Christian." The doctor said looking up from his papers. "Please sit." He said gesturing to a chair on the opposite side of his desk. He then picked up the papers he was looking at, shuffling them and putting them down to the side of him.
"You urmm.. asked me to come to you to talk about Satine's medicine." He asked, he felt a little awkward in the doctors office.
"Oh yes." He said. He pushed his glasses up onto his face again and carried on. "She needs to take this..." He got up and walked to the far corner of his room and went inside a glass cabinet which held alot of bottles. He came back and sat down and then gave the small little bottle, which had a reddish liquid in it, to Christian. "... To Satine once every day. This should help to keep her safe and healthier than she is. She doesn't need that much, just a spoonful, and that should help her throughout the day."
Christian looked at the liquid and nodded. "Thank you doctor. I will make sure she takes it."
"Good boy Christian. I know you take good care of the two of them." The doctor said.
Two of them? What did he mean by that? But just before he could ask the door opened and Harold walked in. "Ah yes doctor. Can I just have a quick word please?" The doctor nodded and Christian knew that, that meant he had to leave. He got up out of the chair, still bewildered, and closed the doctors door behind him. He then walked down the corridor and stopped at the stairs. He then sank down and sat on them, his head in his hands. Why was everyone being so secretive?
He felt like there was a massive secret that everyone else knew but him...
He would just have to ask Satine what the doctor meant. He walked back to there room but slower then usual. It was as if he wanted to know what was going on but he didn't at exactly the same time. No he had to be brave, he had to know what was going on.
