Chapter 21: Sapphire Is Safe

Satine gave a longing look at Sapphire before heading out the door towards the courtyard. "Christian?"

"Satine. Oh, Satine are you okay? I was so worried about you! Where is Sapphire? Is she okay?"

"Yes, she is fine. She is safe" Satine was saying this more to herself than to Christian. She is safe, she thought. She is with Harold but I think she is missing her daddy." Satine gave him a soft smile, both conveying a look of apology and slight happiness. They both walked back to the room, hand in hand.

As soon as Satine opened the door she started to panic. No one was there. She knew Sapphire wouldn't be safe. How could she be so stupid?! "Sapphire? Harold?" Satine started to shake before the tears started to flood down her porcelain face. Satine was running into every room trying to find a clue as to where they'd gone but before she got to the bathroom door Harold walked out with Sapphire in his arms.

"Pumpkin it's okay. We're here. Aren't we? Tell mummy we're okay and her little gem is smiling and happy." The blood nearly drained from her face with happiness that her baby was safe.

Still a little shaken Satine walked towards Harold with fire in her heart. "What were you doing? Do you know how worried I was? Do you have any idea?!"

"My little sparrow calm down. It's okay. Everything is going to be fine. I was just about to bathe Sapphire." He gave Sapphire a smile before looking up at Satine.

Christian then jumped forward and went over to Sapphire but before he could hold her Satine raced towards her and grabbed her off Harold. She was looking over her, making sure no harm had come to her. "No! No, she's not safe with anyone else but me! Why can't you understand that? I'm her mother, I need to protect her. I need..."

"And I'm her father Satine!" Christian cut her off before she could continue. "You need to trust me. I would never hurt her. Give her to me Satine. Please!" Satine looked at Christian, she wanted to trust him but she couldn't. None of them knew. She had to protect Sapphire!

"Satine remember what I told you. Please, trust him. Trust us. We're not going to harm Sapphire we love her just as much as you do. Now you can go and take a nap because it doesn't look like you've had a good night's sleep since you came home and we will look after Sapphire." Before Satine could argue Harold took Sapphire out of her hands and handed her to Christian before leading her into the bedroom so she could sleep.

Harold then left her and started to speak to Christian who was talking to Sapphire in his 'baby voice'. "Where has mummy gone Sapphire? Hm, has she gone sleep? Yes she has but you have me and we're going to have so much fun!" He then kissed her head before Harold spoke.

"Christian you need to understand something. At the moment Satine is incredibly fragile and you need to be patient. She is going to want to protect Sapphire with her life and I know you do as well but sometimes Satine will seem crazy. You just need to remain calm, remind her of what I said to her and tell her Sapphire and herself are safe here."

"Thank you Harold. That means alot." Then turning away from Harold and paying attention to Sapphire again he said "Yes, we're safe and we're going to be very happy. Aren't we baby girl?" As if in response Sapphire giggled and Christian heart nearly exploded.
