getting reads

Getting reads, especially if you've just started writing your fanfiction, is seriously a pain. Reads are not something you can control. Some people may want to read your book, some people may not want to read your book.

But hey, here are some tips on how to increase reads. These are not guaranteed, but you might as well give them a try.

(these are opinion based)

1. Have an eye-catching cover.

It's that simple. All you have to make is a simple cover (do not overdo it) and there you have it! People have different preferences, though.

Some prefer the classy, photoshopped ones that (of course) I am not capable of making, and some just want a cute picture with the Arial Bold Italic font plastered on it (like me).

In my opinion, simple ones like the one with the Arial font are more suited for fanfiction, but take the book "The Confessions Of A Gay Disney Princess" as an example. The cover is absolutely stunning and pleasing to the eye.

But yeah, it's your opinion whether or not your book cover will get you reads. Try changing your theme occasionally and observe the reads. There will probably be a time in where your reads will increase a lot and there you have it; you know what cover/s your readers prefer.

2. Interesting titles are a must.

I can't really say that my titles are interesting, but I try (?). This is the first thing that the people read in your book.

Some just like the titles with the words "Serendipity" or "Inevitable" or some other words that sound like Augustus Waters would say.

But, some want those titles that are long (about 4 to 6 words) and some want a whole sentence.

It depends on the readers, really

3. Earn readers the hard way.

Advertising on other accounts can be bothersome because you don't want to ignore the person, but at the same time, you don't want to read their book.

Reads come eventually, so be patient and don't get angry if they don't increase by twenty-four hours. I have went through this phase and it's like drought, but instead of the lack of water, it's the lack of readers. Almost everyone has gone though this (unless you are a super famous writer like that girl who wrote "After" because it seems as if she never runs out of readers).

Anyway, let's end the chapter here because honestly, there is no sure way in earning reads. Wattpad is a writing community where people write for fun and not for fame. As long as you enjoy writing your story, reads are just going to be your motivation to write and not your reason to write.
