The rain fell like bullets against Chloe's window. Packing her bags away, she had just come home from meeting Aubrey for coffee. Now she just had to wait for Beca to text her.
-Let me know when you've left work. I'd like to see you x-
Chloe tapped the message into her phone and waited for a reply.
She waited for another hour and a half.
I thought she'd be finished by now
Then, right on cue, a knock was heard on the door.
It was her aunt.
Chloe looked up from her bed.
'Beca's dad just called me. She's sick and can't come over, sorry sweetie'
'Oh, okay. I was thinking about checking out places for volunteer work today anyway', the redhead tried not to seem disappointed, but her eyes said otherwise.
She walked over to her desk to pick up her handbag, expecting to go out again. Then, she felt two hands cover her eyes. Her logic suggested that it was her aunt's hands, but really she knew that those small hands could only be Beca's.
'Guess who?'
Chloe took off her blindfold and turned around to see her girlfriend. She punched her arm lightly, grinning.
'Did you make my aunt trick me?'
'That was all her idea. She's a menace', Beca winked at Ms R, who was just leaving the doorway. Her laughter could be heard from down the hall.
'Anyway, I brought magazines, music and some bananas', Beca said.
'Bananas?'
'I've read that they're good for cramps. Also, I wanted to eat like a monkey today'
Chloe smiled as Beca put the supplies on the bed.
The redhead had been suffering at the hands of Mother Nature, so the brunette offered to prepare a hot water bottle.
'That would be the best, thank you, Becs', she said, kissing her cheek.
When Beca came back upstairs with the bottle, Chloe was curled up on the bed, reading a magazine. Beca passed her the bottle and sat next to her; she began to peel a Banana skin.
'How was your day with Aubrey?'
'It was really nice. Her camp is doing so well'
'Glad to hear it. I should come with you to meet her next time because I haven't seen her since The Worlds'
Chloe turned the page of her magazine.
'I can't believe it's been two months'
'Me neither. I guess we've both been busy- what with you and your volunteering and my internship'
'Yeah, it's scary how fast the time has gone. But, hey, we've been together for two months, that's something to celebrate', Chloe said, cheerily.
'Yeah, we're celebrating hard- eating bananas and reading magazines on a rainy day', Beca joked.
Chloe moved up the bed so that she could rest her head on Beca's stomach.
'I don't think my uterus would be up to much more celebrating anyway', she giggled, 'I love you'
Beca kissed her hand.
'I love you too, Chlo', she said, eating her banana.
A rumble of thunder roared through the house; a bolt of lightning lit the darkened room and hit the Earth with an almighty crack. Beca lifted Chloe's head from her abdomen so that she could slip under the redhead's duvet. Chloe snuggled under the duvet with her.
