"What do you mean you slept with her? Like you fell asleep together?" I was so confused and felt absolutely heart broken. Luke was my whole world since I had came to life just months ago. And right now, it felt as if the earth was crumbling around my feet.
"Remember the other night when I told you about that thing two people who love each other do?" I nodded in response, mildly remember how his fingers had made me felt that night. It was unlike any other, almost euphoric, and I felt a blush creep onto my face at the thought. Luke sighed, running a hand through his hair as he bit onto his bottom lip, that black lip ring occupying the space. "I did that. With Alexandra."
"And is that a bad thing? I mean, I don't like her Luke but-"
"Luna, it's horrible! If we're in a relationship, I'm not supposed to do that but I did and I don't feel happy about it." His blue eyes threatened to spill more tears but I was still so utterly confused. My eyebrows furrowed, it being too late, or early, to be dealing with this. "It's called cheating Luna, I cheated on you."
Now that word sounded familiar. I could recall Michael mentioning it to me about an ex girlfriend a few times before. I cheated on you. The words bounced inside my skull as I started to piece together what Luke failed to explain on a level that I could understand. I slowly began to take my hands out of Luke's hold, his face horrified at my actions.
"You.. Cheated on me." I said it more as a statement, trying to calm myself down more than him as I understood exactly what he was trying to say now. My eyes began to widen and all I could think was - how could he do this to me. We had hardly been in a relationship for long and he had already gone and slept with another girl? One of which he knew I disliked? As I got up from the bed, taking my car keys off Luke's night stand, I mad my way across the bedroom, feeling a pain in my chest that resembled nothing of the cut on my knee I had received that one time I tried to ride a bike with him.
"Where are you going?" Luke's voice broke through my thoughts as I was unlocking my phone, going through my contacts once again. I paused at the door, my hand on the knob, holding it slightly open with one foot in the hallway and one foot still in his room, my thumb hovering over the contact I was ready to call.
"I, uh, I gotta get out." I shut the door, making my way to his brother's room that I was supposed to be sleeping in, and now so badly wished I had been. Picking up the book bag from when he had gathered clothes for me from Lola's house, I began stuffing as much of my clothes as I could that would fit. "Hello? Oh my god, can I stay at your's? I'm gonna take my car, just meet me at the park. Please." My voice choked on unwanted tears as I hung up. A soft knock came on my door and Luke opened it, not waiting for an answer.
"Luna, what are you doing?" I thought his question was stupid, knowing he could see me rummaging through my drawer, getting last minute materials as Luke tried to stop me. I pushed pass him though, which made his face turn to one of obvious hurt but anger as well, since he knew that I was going to leave him. "Luna!" He tried to keep his voice down as to not wake up his parents, but at this point I didn't care. Yes, I did mind if Liz and Andrew woke up this late. But, let them. I wanted them to see how I was leaving their son because of a foolish mistake that he couldn't control himself from doing, knowing damn well it would hurt me in the end.
"I can't be here right now. I think I overstayed my welcome so I'm going to leave. I just need time to think." I spoke the words slowly as if each word was a jab to the heart that I didn't know I could deal with. I felt my phone vibrating in the pocket of my gym shorts, knowing that they were calling me back, to see if I was already at the park.
"Please don't go. Don't leave me." Shaking my head, I put the strap of the bag on my shoulder and walked out the door, leaving behind the only thing that mattered most to me in this damned, human world.
