After hours of playing in the attic, Lola had called us three down for something called brunch that she had taken the initiative to cook in the meantime.

"Luke, what's brunch?" I whispered, walking behind him and Zoe into the dining room.

"It's a word when you mix breakfast and lunch, like it's too late for breakfast but too early for lunch. Don't worry, Lola's a chef at some five star restaurant near the beach, her cooking is great." I nodded at Luke's response as we sat down at a small table for four.

"Where's Chris?" Luke asked as he pulled out the chair for me and I sat.

"He had to go to the fire station for an emergency call this morning, some bakery shop went up in flames. Said he won't be back until dinner time." She sighed and passed around a plate of yellow things on it.

"Eggs?" Luke asked, holding it up above my plate with a spoon in hand. I widened my eyes a bit and shrugged and he smiled. "I'll just give you a little of everything, you don't have to eat it all." He passed it back to his aunt as he continued to put more food on my plate. I watched him pick up a utensil and use it on the eggs so I copied his actions.

"So how was your birthday? After the emergency room and all." Lola stifled some laughter as Zoe drowned her pancakes with syrup.

"It was alright." Luke replied in between mouth fulls of food. "I went back home with Luna and Michael slept over so it wasn't a complete disaster. I told you guys I didn't care much for my birthday anyway."

"Oh my god! I didn't even give you your gift!" Lola jumped up from her seat before Luke could even begin to protest about a present  and ran around the corner into a room before rushing back out with an envelope. "Open it." She demanded, handing it to him as she sat back down.

"Now? I'd rather wait and-"

"Now Luke." At her tone, he obliged and put down his fork as he opened it. His jaw dropped at the sight of whatever was in there and I tried to lean over to see what it was but it just left my mind blank.

"Lola- I um- I can't accept these. How much were these? Oh my god. And then another two hundred? For what?! Take it back please." Luke was begging now as he tried to force the envelope back into Lola's hands but she refused.

"Luke, you're here everyday for Zoe and I don't know what I would do without your help by distracting her in the attic. It was your birthday yesterday and you still came! Stop being ridiculous and just accept the damn tickets. I know how much you like Good Charlotte-"

"Like? I freaking love them! This is their first tour in almost three years! I can't believe I get to go! But, why are there five tickets?" He held up the five tickets and fanned them out, making sure he was counting right.

"Well, you, Michael, Ashton, Calum.... And Liz made me promise to buy a ticket for her too. But I don't think she needs to know I actually got them. You could take Luna here instead." Lola smiled at me but I quickly started waving my hands and shaking my head no.

"Oh no, I couldn't, it's for Luke's mum and I've never even heard of them, it's okay- really." I smiled politely but Lola wasn't having it.

"Ashton could drive you guys there, and that money is to spend on food and merchandise while you're there, your mum doesn't have to know, you're nineteen now anyway. Please, take her. Or else I'll buy another ticket."

"No! I'll take her Lola, just, relax, please." Luke started laughing and put the tickets back in the envelope. We finished brunch with smiles on our faces and helped Lola take the empty dishes to the kitchen.

"How was it?" She asked, putting the plates in the sink.

"Very good, thank you so much." I said and she grinned widely.

"I tried this new recipe that I found for my job so that means a lot to me. Luke, go get Zoe out of the high chair please." I turned to see Luke nod his head and leave the kitchen. When I turned my head back around, Lola was smiling me down.

"Listen, I know Luke introduced you as a friend but you're a very pretty girl and I really hope you stick around for a while. Luke's not so great with the ladied and if you could just give him a chance, I'd be grateful. I just feel like he gets really lonely sometimes and I'm trying to watch out for him. Okay?" Lola's eyes were worrisome but I shook my head yes and her smile came back as she pulled me into a hug. "Thank you so much Luna, it means a lot."

Just as Lola finished speaking, a knock was heard on the door and she rushed to open it, probably expecting her husband. But when she opened the door, in came Michael instead.

"Hey Lola! Thanks for leaving me guys." He faked a smile towards me but I just stared back at him, wondering if he had taken a bike too.

"Oh, hey Mikey." Luke came back from the living room after finally getting Zoe to sit still and watch cartoons. "You just missed brunch, we didn't want to wake you." Michael's face dropped and his eyes started to water.

"I missed food?" He began to fake wail and Zoe heard the crying from the living room.

"Quiet Mikey! Paw Patrol is on." She spoke her words slowly but loudly and Michael's eyebrows raised at the sassiness in her voice.

"All that-" Michael wiggled his finger in Zoe's direction before pointing it at Luke. "-is your fault." I laughed as Luke pouted and ran his fingers through his hair.

"I think we're gonna get going Lola, we have band practice at Ashton's today in a bit and we have to go get Calum."

"Alright Luke, have fun and don't forget your present!" Lola was in the living room, trying to fold clothes as Zoe jumped up and down on the couch. "Nice meeting you Luna and bye Michael!"

Luke closed the door behind us as we went back outside and Michael was already groaning.

"It's so hot and I want to die, oh my god." I also felt extremely warm even in my skirt. But Luke ignored us, looking at the bike on the porch.

"Michael, did you walk?" Luke sounded astonished.

"Uh yeah, why?"

"We took a bike so now we all have to walk to Calum's."

"WHY DIDN'T YOU GUYS TAKE TWO BIKES?!" Michael threw his hands in the air and huffed, annoyed that he had to be bothered to exercise some more.

"I don't know how to ride a bike." I finally spoke up to Michael and his face softened before forming a smirk.

"Then it's alright babe. If you get tired, let me know and you can hop on my back." He winked which caused me to laugh and I could hear Luke pretend to puke.

"Let's go." Luke muttered as he started walking on the sidewalk. I trailed behind, Michael by my side, as we walked in silence for a while.

"Hey Luke?"

"What do you want?"

"Why do cats meow?" Michael looked at two cats across the street, tilting his head in utter confusion.

"Michael."

"Yeah Luke?"

"Shut up."
