Chapter Six // {jordan's pov}

Ever since Daryl's little outburst towards me, he's avoided me at all costs. But later today, he won't be able to.

Hershel, Glenn, Daryl and Rick rounded everyone into their cells. Anyone absent will be taken note of.

The small group of us that are searching stood in the middle of cell block D. Our starting point.

"Remember the cell numbers you were all given earlier?" Hershel checked. We all nodded, some replied with yes.

"Let's go," Rick announced.

I walked into cell 3. We added numbers onto all of the cells so we know who is in what. A young woman stood in the cell, she was from Woodbury.

"Macey, right?" I recalled from my memory. She nodded before handing over her weapons which only consisted of a small knife and a gun. The gun was fully loaded, safety on and it was clean. The knife on the other hand had fresh walker blood on it.

"You work at the fence?" I asked Macey.

"Yeah, tough job," she sighed, she was clearly tired. I nodded before pushing the bed's mattress up so I can look underneath it.

Nothing.

I pushed the top bunk's mattress up.

Nothing.

I searched through Macey's clothing bag and through her set of draws.

Nothing.

I smiled at her before saying, "All clear!"

I walk into cell 9 in D block. Lizzie and Mika's cell. I sighed heavily, a children's cell.

"Hey girls, mind handing all your weapons over for inspection?" I said cheerfully to the children. I wasn't a massive fan of acting like I was all happy about doing this. Mika nodded before handing a pocket knife, I smiled at her and turned to Lizzie.

"Why?" she demanded.

"We're checking if they're all in working condition, sweetie," I told her. The kid fell for what I said. Lizzie looked into the bottom draw, under clothes and pulled out a larger knife and a gun which was fully loaded.

The gun was fully loaded and safety was on. That was fine.

I looked at the knife which had dried blood on it. It wasn't a lot, so I couldn't see if it was human or not.

"They knife is blunt and useless. I'm going to get it fixed for you, alright?" I checked with her before shoving it into my holster. The girls nodded before sitting on a chair each.

"I'm going to check if the bed or any clothes need washing now, okay?" I informed before starting my search.

I checked both bunks.

Nothing.

This time, I opened the top draw and found a denim jacket with a blood stain on the left side. It was dried but it'll do. The kids (besides Carl) never helped out with the fence duty or went on supply runs, it was rare for them to get blood on their clothing.

I checked through the remaining draws and came up with nothing.

"You'll give me the knife back, right?" Lizzie asked looking hopeful.

"Of course," I said cheerfully with a fake smile. I quietly left their cell before rushing downstairs to meet everyone.

"Finally," Glenn chuckled. I smiled awkwardly before looking down at the floor.

Knowing that Lizzie could have killed my one and only motherly figure makes me sick. A child killing someone who only has good intentions disgusted me.

"Onto cell block B!" Rick declared loudly startling me.

I placed Lizzie's knife and jacket onto the table. Michonne, Sasha, Daryl and I were the only ones who had found something of suspicion. We were all standing in a circle around the table.

I looked up at Rick who was on my left, but he was too focused on the items in front of us

I looked up at Rick who was on my left, but he was too focused on the items in front of us. I furrowed my eyebrows whilst sighing.

Hershel told everyone that he'll give the items to Dr. S to inspect and that we were free to go do whatever we want.

As I stepped out of the room, a hand gripped onto my wrist. I turn around to see Rick, he hadn't spoken to me today. His bright blue eyes looked down at me, his features were laced with concern. I sighed again. I kept sighing today. I almost laughed at my own thoughts.

"Are you alright, you seem kind down?" he asked me softly.

"I'm fine," I muttered and pulled my hand from his grasp.

"Jords, you're clearly not fine, just tell me what's wrong," Rick said using the nickname that my Dad used to use. It struck a cord with me.

"Of course I'm not fine, I just searched the cell of a kid and found a large knife with blood on it and a jacket? She hid the stupid knife in the bottom draw, in the middle of a stack of clothes. I had to reassure her that she'll get her knife back! She could've killed Carol! A kid who I thought was innocent may have killed the only mother that I ever had," I vented loudly. Rick looked slightly shocked at my words. He regained composure and wrapped his arms around me. I started silently sobbing. My sobs muffled by Rick's shirt. He smelled nice. Well as nice as you can get in an apocalypse.

After awhile, my sobs disappeared leaving tear stains down my face. I looked up at Rick to see that he was already looking at me.. Well, my lips.

Before I knew what is happening, his lips crashed onto mine. I was quick to kiss him back. The kiss took me to another land. Somewhere better than this. A place where I was happy. Before we got too into it, he pulled away and leaned his head against my own. I bit my lower lip, a grin appearing on my face.

I had only one question on my mind.

What were we?
