I woke a little later once the Sun had fully risen and it streamed through the white curtains. I reached out and my hand brushed the sheets. Just the sheets.
I sat upright and blinked.
“ Stupid, lying, annoying ’shifter.” I muttered.
“ Excuse me? Ebony wouldn’t have been pleased to see me in your bed when she came to check on you. She’d happily pluck and roast me.” A voice said from the window.
My eyes narrowed when they met Oscar’s. In the sunlight his chocolate eyes were flecked with gold.
I frowned. “ Good point.” I mumbled.
Oscar grinned. “ And speaking of birds the nest look for your hair is at least a week out of fashion. I like it.” He joked.
I scowled and threw my pillow at him, without touching it.
“ You’re getting good at magic.” Oscar mused as he deftly caught it.
“ And yet you still try to infuriate me.” I smiled. Oscar didn’t deny it.
“ I’ll let you get ready.” Oscar said after a few moments of silence.
“ I’ll see you later?” I asked quickly.
“ Of course. I have a few things to do first. I’ll see you before you leave.” Oscar said turning toward and opening the window.
I grabbed his arm before he could shift and fly out the window. I pulled his lips quickly to mine.
“ Before I leave.” I promised.
Oscar stroked my cheek for a second before flying out the window as a majestic eagle.
I closed my window after him and sighed as I looked at my almost bare room. My rugs, lamps, books and almost all my other belongings had been packed away so I could take them to Constellation. To make my room mine. I just hoped my roommate would be rational.
I dressed in black jeans and vest tops. I pulled my waist length black curls into a pony tail. I made my bed up with new white sheets and put my last few belongings into a small cardboard box. I smiled a short goodbye to the room that had been mine since birth, since my mother left.
We decided that if I would be at Constellation my name would easily recognised. My family name is famous in the world of Crescent Moon. And I am the double of my deceased great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother. I am supposed to be more powerful but I had not seen any evidence to support that yet. I just wanted to be a normal student and to be that I had to create an alias.
I wanted this to be a fresh start. I knew I couldn’t forget Kit or Jem but I would move on. I needed to move on.
I could have chosen to be anyone I wanted to be. I could have been gothic, girly, hippy or even a tomboy. Instead I chose Wills Ribund. A girl who just wants to fit in and fade into the background. I chose Wills because I would respond to it and Ribund for Kit. A constant reminder that Kit Ribund was always with me.
My sister, Ebony, had decided that our five bed roomed house built originally for Willow the first’s daughter, Una, needed filling and all the rooms to be used. She was letting out the rooms; to mostly Crescent Moon people.
