Chapter 24 ~ Jake
I need to see her.
“Jake, earth to Jake.” Jeremy called out.
“Yeah?” I asked as I stood up from the kitchen table, I went to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
“I’m taking your going to fold?” Jeremy asked, I looked at the kitchen table where we had our poker game going on, I nodded my head as I gulped down my water. Jeremy pulled out his phone for the twentieth time tonight.
“Are you expecting a call?” I asked him.
“Not really, I just haven’t heard anything from Sarah.” he told me as he pulled out his phone, again.
“Why don’t you call her then?” I suggested.
“I never thought of that.” Jeremy said concentrated on the screen of his phone. I rolled my eyes, its good to see Jeremy being Jeremy. When Sarah lost that baby I thought Jeremy wouldn’t get over it. He stayed in his room for days.
“I’m going out.” I told Jeremy as I grabbed my coat and headed out the door. I need to see Macey, she is all I have been thinking about lately…I need to tell her how I feel before she goes off with this Alex guy.
When I checked the time on my dash board it was getting close to eleven, it’s getting too late. Maybe they are sleeping. I was debating whether to turn around or not, but something told me to keep going so I did. I drove right to the Smith’s home, with a buzz going through me I pulled around the street. When I got to the house. No one was there. No cars in the driveway. Lights turned off. I double checked to see if I got the right house, I did.
My heart dropped when I realised no one was here, my anticipation was gone. I knew I had to have Macey, I just didn’t know it would be this difficult.
In some peoples mind I would be considered a prick. I know from moving from one sister to the next one, is wrong. But I have opened my eyes and realised who Macey is not just my ex girlfriend’s little sister, she is more than that.
I pulled in the driveway and turned around and went home.
“Shit.” Jeremy said when I entered the door. He was still in the kitchen starring at his phone.
“What is it?” I asked as I came into the kitchen. Now he was pacing, when he pace’s he is nervous.
“Sarah is at her grandmothers, and her grandmother is like on her death bed.”
“Oh.” I went to the small breakfast table we had in the kitchen, pulled a chair out and sat on the cold maple wood chair. “Is the whole family there?”
“Yeah,” Jeremy said as he took the other chair and sat across from me. “I think the place is like 4 hours from here.”
“I know where it is,” Sarah took me to her grandmother’s cottage for one weekend. The whole family was there, it felt awkward the way her grandmother would watch me and wink at me. But Sarah told me it was just her way of being friendly. A silence fell between me and Jeremy; he knew I have been there. “Good night Jer.” I said quickly and left the kitchen; I went to my room and closed the door.
As soon as I wake up tomorrow, I will go get her.

“Getting ready for school?” Jer asked when I went searching for my keys.
“No.” I answered quickly.
“What do you mean no? It’s a school day.” Jeremy asked confused.
