Just breathe Chapter 5

Chapter 5 ~ Jake

I couldn’t believe Sarah hung up on me. Now I know something is really wrong. I looked at Macey.

“She hung up on you too?” She asked.

I nodded. “What did she tell you?”

“She said where she was, at Palm Island beach. And wants us to meet her there.” She said as she kick a rock by her foot.

Okay,I ran a thought trough my head, how do I get to Sarah, well I have no car…Jeremy.

Instantly I called Jeremy. Jeremy worked at Palm Island beach he was a life guard there in the summer. I thought maybe.. Just maybe he saw Sarah and could give us a ride.

"Let me here you say HEY-O!" Yes that's how Jeremy, my brother, answered the phone.

"No time for kidding around Jer." I said quickly.

"Way to ruin the party Mr. Cranky pants." He laughed.

I ignored his laughter, I sighed and rubbed my temple. "Look I called for a favor, it's about Sarah and she r-" Jeremy cut me off.

"If your needing help in the lady's department dude, I'm glad you called , now what you do is grab her -"

"No. Not that, are you going to be serious? Because this is nothing to be kidding around with.” I snapped at him.

"Ok dude take a pill and chill, what can Jeremy Wesley do for you?” Now he was just being a smart ass.

"You know Sarah Smith, blonde hair, blue eyes... me and her are going out,” I paused, are we still dating, is this her way of ending us? I continued “and she ran away... She wants us to meet her there so I need a drive to the beach. Have you seen her?”

"Oh that sounds simple-.. Wait y-your going out with her? Oh shit. Jake... I messed up, I don't know if you'll be able to forgive me.” Jeremy  said seriously , I could hear him mumble to himself. I walked away from Macey, she keep staring at me and sometimes I couldn’t focus.

I heard him mumble some more. "What did you do Jer?"

"I don't know how to tell you this... Maybe Sarah could explain this." It sounded like he was talking to himself.

"Well great Jer, I need to find Sarah and you aren’t telling me something, my car crashed ..."After I said it, I realized how shitty life I have.

"You crashed your new car?” He asked in disbelief.

I let out a sigh of frustration. "Yeah I did I don't want to go into full detail."

"Ok bro, look here's an idea I’ll pick you up and then we go looking for Sarah.. Where are you anyway?"

"We are on high way 94, I'm only 5 miles from the beach, if that. Could you pick us up then we go look for Sarah.” And hopefully some answers, hopefully the truth.

"Umm Jake.. Who are we?" Jeremy pointed out.

"Oh yeah, Sarah's sister, Macey came with me she wanted to help me find Sarah."

"Is she hot?" he asked instantly.

"Seriously Jer?" I asked impatient.

"Sorry, just a question.. Are you going to answer it anytime soon?"

I sighed, I thought about what to say. "I don't know, yeah she’s hot, ok?" No she was beautiful.

"Great," I knew he was smirking.

“I know what your thinking, and the answer is no Jeremy.” He wanted to hook up with her, get her number and never call her back.

"That's what Sarah said eh never mind I'll be there soon."

Wait what did he just say? "No wait Jeremy-" Before I could finish he hung up. As I put the phone back in my pock of my pocket, I walked over to Macey. She was wearing a purple holster top and white shorts with gold flip flop's, when Jeremy see's her he's going to flirt with her. And Macey doesn’t need that.

Macey was standing in a position where her back was turned to me. She was on her phone and couldn’t see me, I cleared my throat. She turned around.

“What did he say?" Macey asked.

I told her that Jeremy works at Palm Island, and he would be coming to get us, I didn’t mention that Jeremy was being awkward and keeping something from me. We waited about twenty minutes.

How long does it take to drive 5 miles?

“When did you say he was coming?” Macey asked as she looked left, then right.

“He said he was coming soon.” I told her, she nodded, and sighed.

We waited another ten minutes in silence, that’s when we saw a yellow jeep screech to a stop. But it didn’t stop right away. It was going closer and closer to Macey, my first instinct was to push her out of the way, and I did. We fell on to the rough grass, I probably have grass stains.

I cursed under my breath.

That’s when I realized Macey was still on top of me.

“You alright?” I asked. She nodded. The sun was hitting her perfectly, her brown hair was tucked behind her ears, her eyes shinning bright.

She rolled off of me, then I heard Jeremy stop his car and run towards us.

“You guys alright?” He asked out of breath, he helped me up, then Macey.

I laughed, I had two near death experiences in one day. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

“Why hello there pretty lady.” Jeremy winked as he saw Macey, she rolled her eyes.

“Its going to take a lot more of flirting to make me forgive you.” She laughed as she brushed past him. He smirked and raised an eye brow.

“Don’t even think about it Jeremy.” I warned.

“What?, its not like she’s your girl friend.” He pointed out. He winked and went back to the Jeep. I followed shortly after.

She’s not your girl friend, echoed in my head as we were driving. No she wasn’t. But something wished, wanted, needed her to be.

I looked at Macey from the rear view mirror, her face was lost as she peered out the window.

How crazy is it to love two people? How crazy is it to love two sisters. I stopped my starring. It doesn’t matter, I’m going to find Sarah, once she tells me why she left, and it cant be that big, well go back to normal, everything will. Right?
