Chapter 3 ~ Macey

"Mom, mom, no it- .. God n-.. Mom no I tr- .. Urgh shut up mom and listen for a minute will you ?" That will shut her up hopefully.

"What happened sweetie?" Mom asked as her voice went soft , we are on the phone. As I was leaning on one of the trees on highway 94, I was only meters away from the car, that got crashed because Jake seemed to be in a daze or something.

It happened too quick to realize it was happening, I was screaming his name, he only looked at me. He tried to brake, but it didn’t work, he tried to pull out the key to stop the car, but it didn’t matter, the car was already turning off the road into a huge tree. The glass of the windshield came down like a water fall, the airbags came up, sending me backwards.

Someone called the cops, and the ambulance, but we were both fine. I did not want to deal with the cops, so I called my mom to let her know what happened, she went on some sort of rant.

"Look what happened is, Jake and I were driving then we past an exit that we were suppose to take and we argued about it then we got so into the argument, he well crashed because he wasn't paying attention. Don't worry no one is hurt. Look mom I have to go."

"Ok sweetie" She said with a sigh because she wanted more answers, the whole story but even I didn't know the whole story.. I really don't know why Jake crashed or if he even did. "Ok sweetie , I'm just happy you and Jake are ok .. I love you."

"I love you too mom." I hung up the phone.

A loud noise came from the opposite direction of me, then I saw the flashing lights..

The paramedics arrived, in a hurry pulled out a stretcher from the back, ran to the crashed car, where I was standing. One young woman grabbed my arm dragging me to the ambulance.

The obnoxious noise of the sirens where going on, the lights of red and white flashing brightly giving me a head ache. I was placed at the edge of the ambulance, the woman took a flashlight, telling me to look at her eyes, this was happening so fast. A guy in a navy blue paramedic suit came over with a paramedic bag, he zipped the bag, pulling out a needle, I sudden fear erupted in me, I hated needles, they are gross and they hurt.

I put my arms around my shoulders, shielding me from the needle.

“Miss, move your hands please.” The woman asked. I shook my head sternly.

“I’m alright, I’m not hurt.”

The paramedics looked at each other, they went off whispering, came back in seconds.

“Alright, we wont give you the needle, put we need to check some things out.” The man said, I nodded, letting my arms fall.

They gave another flashlight test, making me blind for a couple of seconds, they asked me some questions like; your name, where you live, what do you remember. The next one caught me off guard.

“Did your boyfriend make the crash?” The woman asked.

I had to control myself from not bursting out in laughter. “No , he’s not my boyfriend… And I don’t know if he crashed it, he tried different ways of stopping the car but nothing worked.” The paramedic nodded intently as she wrote down some scrabble of words.

“Thank you.” She said before she left me, she went to where a police officer was standing by his patrol car, they said some words, I looked around to see the scene in front of me.

There was safety cones placed around the accident, and police tap. another police officer directing traffic, with shocked faces looking at the car when they drove by. Jake was standing with the male paramedic telling him something, probably what he remembers.

Someone shouted my name, I looked around, then I heard it again. It was the police officer that was previously talking to the paramedic. I got off the back of the ambulance and walked over to the officer.

As soon as you look at him you know he is in his late 40's and has been doing this job for a long time, his suit was gray with a navy blue belt holding his handcuff's , pepper spray and the obvious , Gun.

Jake came up behind me, brushing past me, giving me goose bumps. The officer shuffled through his notepad, studying it before asking a question.

“Now, uh, Mr. Wesley?” Jake nodded. “What exactly happened here today?”

"Well,” Jake said with a patient tone, he just wanted to get out of here and find Sarah and go back with her .. Leaving me. "Me and Miss Smith got in to an argument over witch exit we passed , because we were suppose to pass B4 and well, I knew she was wrong but to make her be quiet I went to turn around and something must have happened to the car when I turned around then crash."

"Well your story seem to be true because we found an oil leak in your car which must have caused something to happen but one thing is fault Mr. Wesley, you did pass B4." The police officer said with a chuckle.

Yes! I told you Jake!

I thought to myself, as I look at his embarrassed face, the sun hit him perfectly , I could make out every feature of his face, his jaw line, his nose and his dark brown hair looked glossy in the sun as his blue eyes sparked. I quickly snapped out of it when I heard.

"Miss Smith.. hel-"

"Um yeah?" I answered quickly; I was still dazed by Jake.

"Is Mr. Wesley's story true?"

"Yes Absolutely" I answered with full confidence in my voice.

The only reason I was being snobby with Jake in the car is because I cant get too close to him because I would ruin everything for him and Sarah, I needed to keep him at arm's length.

When the police officer was writing or typing the report in his car, I went closer to Jake and said;

"I'm sorry I was being a bitch in the car, I'm just tired and worried about Sara-"

"No need to apologize, I crashed remember". he said with a chuck and he did that beautiful smile of his, he was making my putty in his hands.

"You sure, because if I did-"

"I don't even want to talk about it, it was an accident, it ok. "He said trying to be patient with me. I was thinking about what to say when I heard my cell phone ring and they were bells meaning its call not a text when I looked at the caller ID it said Sarah , some say saved by the bell.. Me? I wish the bell never rang.
