Mitchell's POV:

I played amazing. I was still on a high from Abbi kissing me. I scored twice in the whole game which I felt good about. Apparently James played well too because he scored 4 goals.

"Great job guys!" Landon said running up to hug us.
"Let's get this show on the road though, shall we? I don't want to be late"

James and I both nodded.

"Can we please stop at McDonalds though? I'm starving" I said quickly.

"Of course!" She replied as we hopped in the car.

My phone buzzed slightly and I looked down to see a text from Abigail.

From: Abbi
To: Mitch
Hey! Great job!! You guys did so well, congrats on the victory!

From:Mitch
To: Abbi
Thanks! I am pretty happy with the outcome, are you going to the after party?

From: Abbi
To: Mitch
Of course! Then after do you want to maybe come hangout at my house or something? I'm having a few friends over

Awesome! I tried not to look too excited as we pulled into the parking lot of McDonalds but I was.

From:Mitch
To:Abbi
Of course I want to come over and chill with my girlfriend and her friends

I replied throwing in the word girlfriend just to be cool. To say I was on cloud 9 would be an understatement.

From:Abbi
To: Mitch
:#) awesome I can't wait!

I put my phone away while we ordered and ate.

I shoved the last French fry into my mouth and looked at James. He looked kinda sad, I wanted to ask why but I figured I should just leave him be. We hobbled into the car and then drove to the party.

There were so many people there and I could tell Landon felt intimidated because she grabbed my arm. My skin tingled where ever she touched me. A lot of the people at the party where from other hockey teams in the area that Landon didn't know so I spent the first hour introducing her to everyone. Every single guy at the party was flirting with her and I decided I didn't want to listen to it anymore so I walked away.

Landon continued talking to some guys for a little bit before she followed me.

"Hey Mitchy, what was that about?" She asked referring to my conversation exit.

"Nothing, those guys are just boring" I stated calmly just a James walked up to us looking sad.

"She's not here" James muttered. It took me a moment to realize that he was talking about Madison. Shit. I forgot to tell him.

"Oh yeah, dude, Madison texted me earlier that she wouldn't be able to come to the game..." I told him. He looked crushed

"Why didn't you tell me?" He whispered.

"I didn't want to fuck up your performance for the game," I responded rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

James looked hurt. But he didn't say anything, he just nodded and walked away.

Landon looked at me.

"Why couldn't she make it?" She asked. I shrugged.

"I don't know, I didn't ask her" I responded in a saddened tone. I probably should have asked.

"Oh, okay well I actually have to talk to you about something, it might lighten the mood a bit" she suggested in a semi cheerful voice. I looked at her and smiled. She always tried to keep everyone happy.

"Sure what is it?" I asked. But before Landon could respond Abigail ran over to me and threw her skinny little arms around my neck.

"GREAT JOB MITCHYYYY" she giggled. I smiled at her and hugged her.

"Thanks Abbi," I chuckled.
