James POV:
Lunch is finally almost over, the next class I have with Landon and Madison. French 5. That class I know that Landon dreads.
Since we are ahead in French we take the class with the upperclassmen, and a special someone named chandler is in that class. Landon's ex boyfriend. Emphasis on EX. To say it ended badly would be a huge understatement. Chandler seemed unphased, Landon... Phased, definitely phased.
I, on the other hand, love French. I'm good at it for one, I have it with Landon for two, and Madison. Madison is so elegant and quiet and adorable. I just want to pinch her adorable cheeks. God I sound like a weirdo. I mean... She's hot af.
The bell sounded loudly signaling the end of lunch. I heard a series of groans and Landon ask Mitchell what his next class was then ask Theo to take him there. This kid that sits at our lunch table, Noel, jogged up to me and gave me nudge. I eyed him curiously.
"aye, do you think new boy has got a head up on me?" Noel asked
"What?" I responded not understanding what he had asked
"You know... Like does Landon like him more then me or smth?" He repeated
"Oh, no I don't really think so" I replied, knowing that there was no way Landon would ever like Noel. But you know, gotta keep 'em happy. Noel gave me a quick head nod before dashing off.
"Hey," a shy voice said.
"Hey Maddie, how was your weekend" I responded trying to sound more confident then i felt.
"Pretty good, after the football game on Friday my mom took my to Chicago for some shopping" she responded her voice still weak.
"That's cool, Chicago is like a four hour drive right? Did you fly?" I asked trying so hard to be chill.
"Yeah, well, my mom didn't want to be driving the whole time so we just flew cause it's quicker, she kind of splurged since its my birthday weekend" she muttered. I hate myself. I forgot it was her birthday. How on earth could I forget this beautiful angels birthday! I guess since the party was this weekend I figured her birthday was later in the week but it totally wasn't! God I'm so stupid! Suddenly I was saved by the sound of my sister skipping up toward us gleefully holding a red box tied in a gold ribbon.
"Happy birthday Madison!" She announced excitedly. "James and I left it in my locker so I had to run and get it" I silently thanked the lord for my wonderful sister.
"Oh thank you!" Madison responded happily. She smile warmly making eye contact with me but only for a moment. I wondered what was in that box. She picked up the card and read it silently as we walked toward the seniors building. I leaned my head over her shoulder to see my signature forged perfectly at the bottom. I looked at Landon great fully. She winked.
We continued toward the seniors building which was quite far.
We arrived to the class just before the bell rang and slid into our seats which were in the very front row. The teacher began speaking to the class in French. I lost interest and my eyes wandered to look at Madison who sat attentively paying attention to the teacher.
She had extremely blond thick hair that spiraled halfway down her back in loose cork screw curls, bright green eyes, and perfect skin. I looked down at her notebook and was surprised to see a large J doodled right in the middle with hearts and flowers and swirls all around it. I quickly assumed the J stood for something else like her dogs name or something and went back to paying attention to the class.
