Author's Note: i've been wanting to write something about my own hcs for this prompt for a while, and as it's been requested i can finally give y'all my thoughts :3

Firstly, I'd like to start off by saying that a tenth mecenary being a woman would definitely shake up the team's dynamic at first, but not because she's incapable. The mercenaries are already a collection of unstable, eccentric personalities, but after the initial novelty wears off, she'd simply become another mercenary. Respect on the team is earned through surviving battles/missions, not gender.
Throughout the first few weeks the entire base goes through an adjustment period. Everyone is curious, even if they pretend they aren't. There are definitely a few lingering glances at first, but not out of disrespect, but because it's a change from the usual routine. But then, she very quickly learns that "normal" does not exist on this team.
The key thing about this, is that respect is earned in combat, as mentioned. None of the mercenaries fully trust anyone until they've fought beside them. But one successful mission changes everything, and if she proves she can hold her own, any complaints will disappear almost overnight. To the entire team, skill speaks louder than anything else.
Some brief headcanons I have for the mercs individually...
Scout
~: He initially tries too hard to impress her, and thinks he'll charm her with jokes (especially if she's close to his age). But Scout gets humbled immediately if she isn't interested.
~: After enough missions together, he stops seeing "a woman" and starts seeing "my teammate.
~: But keep in mind he still occasionally shows off because that's just Scout.
