ELEANOR'S POV

Normally, I'm eager to join into the activities at camp, but today, I'm absolutely terrified. I have a phobia which not many people know of water so I actually can't swim. This is a huge issue because we're going kayaking but I don't want to miss out on all the fun either...ugh the dilemma. I'm also a little embarrassed by this because most people know how to swim and I have this irrational fear of drowning.

"Okay, everyone, take your kayaks and we'll carry them down to the dock," the instructor shouted.

Oh god, if I was going to tell him, this would be my last chance.

"Excuse me?" I said in a small voice.

"Yes?" my instructor answered.

"Um, this might be a bad time to say it but, I can't swim.." I muttered quietly.

"Oh well, that's okay, we can just give you a life jacket to use," he answered. (DISCLAIMER: I don't know if you can actually do this because I don't kayak :P)

A huge wave of relief swept over me.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH," I almost yelled. I may have been too happy about it but oh well.

"You can't swim?" asked a shocked British bloke.

"Oh, hi Louis, um, I wasn't really meaning for you to hear that. It's a little embarrassing," I admitted.

"No worries love, loads of people can't swim, it's nothing to be ashamed of," he assured me, smiling. "Now come on, I'll help you get your kayak to into the water."

It was a long haul until we finally got to the shore but we eventually made it. I immediately plopped down onto the ground and tried to catch my breath. I can't remember the last time I was this tired.

"You doing alright there?" Louis asked.

"Yeah I'm fine, just trying to catch my breath," I gasped out.

"Eleanor! There you are, here's your life jacket," my instructor handed me a red vest-like jacket.

"Thank you"

After putting on the jacket, I was ready to go. We were taught how to get into our kayaks and then taught how to paddle and steer. It was truly amazing, I had so much fun just gliding and drifting through the water.

When we got back to the dock, I quickly got out of my kayak to take off the uncomfortable life jacket. I mean, I have to wear it, obviously, but damn, is it hard to get out of. Please tell me I'm not the only one who has this problem. Anyway, I was pretty pleased with how the trip went, considering I didn't get super wet. Suddenly, I felt something push me from behind and before I knew it, I was plummeting straight into the water. Knowing what would happen to me, I let out a giant scream of help.

LOUIS' POV

While I was trying to get my kayak out of the water and onto the dock, I heard a loud, high-pitched scream and immediately turned around. I found Eleanor in the water and those mean girls, Catherine and Addie were  standing there laughing at her. I took action right away and dived into the water to save her, I had to. When I got to her, her head was almost submerged into the water but thankfully I made it in time. I quickly wrapped her arms around my neck and let her ride on my back until we got to shore. (DISCLAIMER: again, I'm not sure if this is actually how lifeguards save people)

ELEANOR'S POV

"Thank you," I finally got out. I was having trouble breathing so talking was a daunting task.

"Sh, don't talk, you'll waste your breath," Louis replied softly.

By now, everyone had crowded around us, including the bitch squad who had pushed me in. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone saw them push me in so they probably weren't going to get in trouble. The instructor made sure that I was okay and then told everybody to get lost and give me some space. Louis carried me back to my car and set me down in the back seat. He sat at my feet and I felt I owed him the biggest thanks in my life.

"Louis, I have to thank you for everything you did back there. If it wasn't for you, I may have been unconscious right now," I whispered.

"Of course, anything for you," he replied sweetly.

Then, he did something I never expected, he sang.

"The story of my life

I take her home

I drive all night

To keep her warm in and time

is frozen

The story of my life

I give her hope

I spend her love

until she's broken inside

The story of my life"

His voice was so beautiful, clean and crisp. I had no idea he could sing like that, I was tearing up just listening to him.

"That was beautiful," I whispered, almost falling asleep but then catching myself.

"It's okay, I'll drive you home," Louis offered, probably noticing my sleepy condition.

"Thanks again, you're the best"

And with that, I drifted into a peaceful and heavy sleep.
