The full moon had subsided. Though, Angel could tell, for Raven. The events of that night had left her with scars. Her navy blue eyes lingered on her fingernails. There was blood caked inside them. Angel's blood to be exact. He wondered how much of that night she remembered. The wolf had taken over her body that night and the rage that filled its mind had to have clouded her memory some. This of course was just an assumption. He wasn't a werewolf. So, he didn't know how the transformation affected them. The only thing he knew is that right now Raven needed him to comfort her.
"Don't look at that," Angel advised. "Look at me," He placed his hand on her shoulders and forced her to look into his eyes. "What happened last night that wasn't you, okay?" He ran his fingers through her hair. She nodded. He brought her to his chest and wrapped her in his arms. "I don't want you to blame yourself for any of it. You understand? None of it is your fault. We're together," He held her tighter. "That's all that matters."
"I don't understand." Raven's eyes returned to the blood on her fingernails. "How can you forgive me so easily? Aren't you afraid of me? I tried to kill you Angel and it could happen again."
"I'm not afraid of you attacking me during a full moon. You're a werewolf, it's in your nature to lash out during a full moon." Angel explained. "What scares me is the thought of losing you forever. I guess that's why it's so easy for me to forgive you. Or," He held her hands to take her eyes off the blood. "It could be the fact that when you care for someone as much as I care for you. Small things like that just don't matter."
"Small?" Raven laughed. "Angel, my love I tried to kill you and almost succeeded. How is that small?"
"I don't know," Angel shrugged. "It just is. So um," He walked over to the pile of rubble that was once their cave. He dug underneath it and grabbed his bag which was protected by a curse. It made everything in the bag indestructible but tripled the weight of every item in the bag. He avoided this flaw by dispelling the curse when he touched the bag. He draped the bag on his right shoulder. "What do you remember about last night?"
"I don't know. It's kind of like a fuzzy puzzle," Raven answered. "The memories come back in blurry pieces and some of the pieces get lost. I think that's the worst part of it. I do remember that for some reason you were on one knee." Angel was taken back by her words. Does she remember him proposing to her?
"Well yeah I was on one knee at one point. But it was because of the amount of damage I received. I was in a lot of pain." Angel replied, Raven's eyes returned to her claws.
"Really, I hurt you that badly." Raven asked him.
"No, it was nothing serious. It was really nothing," Angel retracted. "Sure I was in pain but. You know what I'm just going to go get cleaned up." He kissed her forehead and walked off with his bag.
"Wait up, I'll join you." Raven dug through the rubble of their cave. Most of her clothing was folded into the wooden dresser that had been smashed to pieces. She moved the pieces of wood aside. She found a black tank top and skull print pajama pants. She grabbed them and chased after Angel.
Once she got to the stream. She saw her beloved Angel lathering his shoulder length mocha hair in soap. His arms lifted up, his clean nails raking through his hair. His eyes closed. Her eyes traced the water droplets down to his soaking wet chest and abs. His grey sweatpants were placed by her feet. He dunked his head into the water and raked all the soap out of his hair.
While Raven stood there watching him bathe in the stream. Her eyes lingered on the faint claw marks on his body. Each cut struck her like a bright flickering light in the dark. This light was, memories. She could see herself in her wolf form attacking him. The faint cut on his cheek. She remembered slashing on the side of the face. She shut her eyes trying not to see it. When she opened her eyes again. She saw the four faint claw marks on Angel's chest. She saw herself hitting him with her claws drawing blood.
