Chapter 51: A Slight Kink (Part 01)

"I'm glad you made a friend," Angel wrapped his arms around Raven.

"Me too," Raven pressed her lips against his. While they were kissing. There hiding up in a tree was a small sugar glider. Its eyes watched as the couple kissed each other then flew off...

"That can't be possible," Karin yelled, her fist striking Liley's desk. Liley sat in a chair behind the desk with her legs crossed. There was a man standing next to her. His long platinum blond hair with grey highlights reached his shoulder blades. He wore frame glasses over his onyx eyes. He had on a white button up shirt that was partially unbuttoned to reveal his chest. He wore black slacks and black dress shoes.

"It can and it is possible, Karin," He adjusted his glasses. "Your plan failed. The werewolf and vampire both live. I saw them both in the forest and they were very much alive."

"But how?" Karin slammed her hand on Liley's desk. "I told them where to find them. I lead them directly to them. There was a team of two vampires and two werewolves both sent to kill those two. Not to mention a full moon. One of them should at least be dead by now."

"But neither of them are," He added, "It seems you're losing your touch Karin. Perhaps, it's time you passed the torch to someone more deserving of our Leader's praise." Karin bit her lip in frustration.

"Jace, you're far from deserving of our Lord's praise." Karin argued. "I bet you're lying, I bet you're making this up if only to get a rise out of me." She accused. "You just can't get over the fact that I broke up with you. Talk about a fragile ego."

"My ego is not fragile," Jace crossed his arms. "I'm not the one working so hard for Leader's approval. The main reason we broke up is because your loyalty to our leader prevents you from being a suitable mate. I think you'd much rather mate with him. I'm not one for competition so I would have broken up with you anyway." He added. "Besides," He took off his glasses and cleaned them with his shirt. "I don't recall the sex being all that great either. To be honest, it was a waste of a perfectly good condom." Karin growled at him. "Did that make the Fox angry?"

"I will kill you where you stand," Karin tried to attack him with her claws. He dodged her attack and waved a finger.

"Now, now, Karin, you know our leader forbids us from killing each other." Jace reminded her. "So be a good little pet and put your claws away." He patted her on the head gently and ruffled her hair. Karin withdrew her claws. "That's a good fox," He smiled at her. "So obedient to our Leader's orders."

"As much as I enjoy the banter between you two," Liley spoke up. "I didn't call you two in here for couples therapy." She picked up her cup of coffee and took a sip. "I called you in here so that Jace could report what he saw. I wanted to see the look on your face Karin when your so-called master plan failed." She took another sip of her coffee. Karin growled. "I must say it was quite a delight. So I guess you're not as good at this as you thought you were. Maybe, you bit off more than you can chew. Perhaps now you'd be willing to let me have another shot at killing the happy couple seeing as. You clearly lack the skills to get the job done." Liley set her coffee cup down on its coaster. "Ah, refreshing."

"You brat, you think I'm just going to hand them over to you. You couldn't pull it off, you failed." Karin argued.

"Yes and you reported my failure to my father. You were so keen on placing your drones around to watch my every move just hoping. I'd fail." Liley picked up her cup of coffee finishing the last of it. "So I thought why not return the favor. Sucks, doesn't it?" She set her empty coffee cup down. "Granted, I'm not going to report your failure to my father. He may already know. Assuming he does, that gives us one last chance to settle this matter." She crossed her legs. "If we fail again he'll take the matter into his own hands and if he does that. We will no longer have the luxury of hiding among the shadows and neither of us want that. So with that said," Liley rose to her feet. "I propose a truce." She held her hand out to Karin. "We work together to resolve this matter otherwise we risk losing everything we've built thus far."
