Dinah anxiously waited in the booth of Stardust Diner, waiting for Normani to show up. Usually, they chose to meet up in a small coffee shop, so the fact that Normani wanted them to meet here was pretty unusual. Especially considering how uptown it was in comparison to their apartments.

However, the two of them are pretty unusual as well, so Dinah didn't question Normani's request.

Until she physically arrived there.

Dinah just thought she was going to order her food and start snacking on some pickles and cole slaw, but the second her pickles arrived, her waiter got on a nearby table, and started belting out a familiar Broadway tune.

And she was the only one that was surprised.

The entire crowd was smiling and dancing, some were even singing along. Dinah felt like she was the only one feeling a little bit uncomfortable.

Once the waiter started finishing up his mashup of "Something's Coming" from West Side Story, and "Live in Living Color" from Catch Me if you Can, Dinah decided to text Normani.

Dinah: Where u at homegirl?? 👀👀 this girl is hungry AF !! -DJ

Dinah rolled her eyes, and tried to get a waiter's attention. She figured that Normani wouldn't be upset if she ordered an appetizer, considering she's almost twenty minutes late.

Suddenly, the lights dimmed once again, signaling another performance from an employee.

".. Today, Stardust Diner would like to introduce you to one of our newest employees. She's a dance major at NYU, and is from Atlanta, Georgia.."

Dinah's jaw dropped, unable to comprehend what was about to happen.

"Normani Kordei, singing 'And I Am Telling You,' from Dreamgirls!"

The crowd roared with applause as they saw Dinah's best friend in the whole wide world getting up onto the counter. She wore a typical waitress outfit, except it had much more sparkles. Normani's face was covered in makeup - but not in a bad way. She wore high heels and an even bigger smile.

And Dinah couldn't be more proud of her.

Especially because she had no idea whatsoever that she knew how to sing!

Once her performance was over, Dinah was in tears. She always knew that her best friend was talented, of course. But this talented?! Never in a million years.

Normani got down from the counter, smiling ear to ear. She was in her element. Dinah couldn't stop crying, no matter how hard she tried. Once they locked eyes, Normani rushed over to her table, and they hugged for what felt like eternity.

Then, Dinah broke the silence.

"You stupid ass, I thought you were standing me up!"

Normani laughed, hitting her lightly.

"Boo, I would never flat leave you like that. You know this!"

Dinah smiled. "So, what time do you get off?"

"I'm actually done now," Normani replied, taking off her apron. "I made sure that I was off the schedule so you and I could have lunch."

"Okay, good," Dinah said, suddenly growing serious. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Normani frowned. "Tell you what?"

"Tell me that you're the most talented eighteen year old girl in New York City, that's what!" Dinah scoffed, rolling her eyes at her friend.

"Listen, it's really not a big deal. I did some community theater growing up, took some voice lessons.."

"So you've known this for awhile? And never told anyone?"
