Chapter 28

Camila woke up the next morning feeling refreshed.

The four girls had such a wonderful time the night before. The best part, by far, was seeing Dinah and Normani hold hands. Dinah still hadn't filled her in on what had led up to it, but she's patient.

After they had looked around the museum for a little bit, they went to one of the museum's cafes and stayed there for a little while. Although it was free admission, the food was pretty expensive, but it was worth it.

Lauren had decided to go home, which Camila understood. However, sleeping without Lauren in the same room had Camila feeling.. Empty.

She rolled over and reached towards her nightstand to retrieve her phone. 10:55. It was unusual that Lauren wasn't awake yet, but Camila assumed she just stayed up all night writing or something.

Camila checked her notifications, and realized she had a missed text from about twenty minutes prior from an unknown number. She frowned, clicking on the notification.

(212) 720 2529 (10:22): Hey, it's Austin the kid from ur class

She replied instantly:

(10:57) Hey! Forgot we exchanged numbers, lol. What's going on?

(212) 720 2529 (10:59): Yeah lol not a random stranger I promise ;) not much, just got out of the gym

11:01: Wow impressive! Lol. I just woke up. Wish I had that motivation 💪🏼

(212) 720 2529 (11:02): Yeah lol it's no big deal. Hey, so would u be willing to tutor me in English? I don't understand the book we're reading at all and u seem to ur shit together

Camila took a moment to think about it. It's not that she didn't want to help, because she wouldn't mind helping. But she didn't know this kid at all, and the fact that he was texting her back so quickly was pretty alarming.

But she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.

(11:10): Yeah, sure! I just have to check my work schedule. Let me know when you're free!

As Camila predicted, her phone buzzed less than a minute later, but she chose to ignore it. She didn't want to give off the vibe that she was interested in being anything more than friends.

Instead, she texted Lauren:

(11:11) Good morning beautiful lady 💕

Just as Camila pressed "send," she heard a knock at the door.

"Chancho, you up?"

"Yup, come in!"

Dinah strolled in, with perfect bed head and still in her pajamas. She plopped into Camila's bed, then laid beside her.

"God, I'm so happy it's finally break. I seriously needed to sleep in."

Camila nodded. "I agree with you, I've barely been sleeping lately. Working and going to school is way too much for me."

"Then add a relationship in there, and there goes all of your free time. I mean, I guess that's another reason why I should be happy that Normani and I aren't official."

Camila rolled her eyes. "You guys are going to be official before you know it. Besides, I saw the way you guys were holding hands last night! How did that happen?"

Dinah blushed, shrugging. "It just.. Did. We were having a really nice heart to heart and we held hands.. But she just never let go"

"Awwwwww Dinah! I knew that you had a soft side to you somewhere!"
