7:32.Camila just checked her phone, anxiously awaiting Lauren's arrival.
Where was she?
Was she being crazy? Definitely. But something seemed off in Lauren's texts, so she was more paranoid than usual.
Which was pretty damn paranoid, if you've ever spoken to Camila.
"Hey Chancho, you good over there?"
Camila snapped back to attention at the sound of Dinah's voice. Dinah was in her favorite Lion King pajamas, with her hair tied up and her slippers on. Since tonight was slumber party themed, Dinah decided to go all out.
"Yeah, I just.. Where is she?"
Dinah checked her lock screen, rolling her eyes when she realized what time it was.
"Mila, it's 7:34. So, she's four minutes late. Maybe she's still walking here."
"She'd better not be walking here," Camila said, suddenly growing worried. "It's getting dark out."
Dinah sighed. "Seriously, Camila. What's your deal?"
Camila sat down on the couch, putting her feet up.
"Well, she seemed a little distant in her text messages earlier today. I mean, I know she can't text while she's working, but I got a weird vibe from her when she was on her break."
Camila noticed that her best friend looked uncomfortable, and frowned.
"Wait, are you okay?"
Dinah sighed, then finally looked Camila in the eye.
"I think I know what the problem could be," she finally responded, looking at her feet.
Camila's eyebrows furrowed, not truly understanding.
Dinah took a deep breath, then shifted uncomfortably once again.
"I.. May have visited her at work today."
Camila found herself growing with anger.
"Why would you go and see her? What did you say to her?"
Dinah remained silent, unable to look Camila in the eye.
"Dinah Jane. I am going to ask you one more time: what did you say?"
"I didn't say anything bad, okay?" Dinah argued, standing up. "All I said was that I didn't want her to be a bad influence on you. I explained to her that she needed to gain my trust. That's all. I swear." She even lifted up her pinky for good measure.
Camila stood up directly in front of her, not understanding anything that was happening.
"Dinah, it's not your trust that matters in this equation, don't you understand that?!" Camila started pacing around the room, unsure of what to do next.
"Camila, you hardly know this girl. You don't know what her past was like, you don't know what her intentions are-"
"Well, her past is none of my damn business. Also, I don't know if you've noticed this or not, but we have only been out once! Right now, we don't have any intentions."
"But Mila-"
"But nothing, Dinah!" Camila countered, feeling herself starting to cry. "This is the beginning of our relationship. This is supposed to be the fun part, where we get to know each other and then eventually, yes eventually, I would have to introduce her to my friends. It sucks that what happened, happened. I hate that it had to happen. I really do, don't you get that? But we have to deal with it. We have to get past it. We can't just meddle in it because it's easier to do that then to act like fucking adults for once and deal with the problem!"
