"So, miss Camila, where are we off to?"Camila smiled, looking back at Lauren. Never in a million years did she ever think that she would be running around New York City with her ex girlfriend's current girlfriend, but here she was.
"We are going to my favorite place in the entire world."
"Which is..?" Lauren asked. Camila smiled, enjoying how eager Lauren was.
"Why don't you trust me?! If anything, I shouldn't trust you. Give me my hand back!"
Lauren let go of her hand, rolling her eyes. "Okay, fine. Here is your hand. Now tell me where we're going!!"
Camila rolled her eyes in return. "Patience is a virtue, Lolo!"
Camila spotted Lauren frowning in the corner of her eye.
"What's the matter?"
Lauren smiled. "Nothing, why?"
"You made a face when I called you Lolo," Camila replied.
"Nothing, it's just.. No one's called me that in such a long time."
Camila smiled. "Well now, it'll be our thing, okay?"
Lauren smiled in return. "Wow, we have a thing now?"
"Shut up. Hey, we're here!"
Both girls were right in front of Insomnia Cookies, Camila's favorite cookie place in New York. Camila already felt herself drooling just by looking at the sign alone.
"What is this place? I've never heard of it," Lauren said, squinting to read the signs on the door.
"They sell the best oatmeal raisin cookies in the entire world. I usually have them delivered to me and Dinah's apartment," Camila replied, entering the store.
"So, an art major, huh?" Camila asked, with her mouth full of cookies.
"Yup. Always have been painting, always will be painting. It's the most relaxing thing that a human can do, in my opinion. How about you?"
"English.. Well, at least for now," Camila replied, taking a sip of her bottle of milk. "Who knows? Knowing me, I'll probably end up changing it."
"Why?" Lauren asked. "English sounds like fun."
"Don't get me wrong, it's not boring or anything.. I just feel like it's so predictable."
Lauren frowned. "Why do you say that?"
"I've always been that girl who's always in the corner to herself. Since the day I learned how to read, that's basically all that I've been doing," Camila replied, swinging her legs around on the stool.
"Well, I think that's adorable," Lauren blurted out, immediately regretting it.
But she didn't the second that she noticed Camila blushing. Suddenly, her stomach was full of unexplainable butterflies.
"I just.. Can't explain it," Camila continued. "I love getting lost in a book. I love visualizing what the character looks like, what their room looks like.. I can get lost in a story for the rest of my life, and I would honestly be perfectly happy."
Lauren nodded. "I feel you. It's so easy to get caught up in a story."
"One of my favorite things about books are that you can control it, in a way."
Lauren frowned. "What do you mean?"
"Well, if you don't like the way the story is going, you can just close the book, you know?"
