Camila's tummy was full of butterflies as Lauren took her by the hand, and led her towards their destination.Lauren described the cyber cafe to Camila as her perfect serenity, so to say that the brunette was excited was the understatement of the century. Since they were both still getting to know each other, the fact that Lauren wanted to share this place with Camila was extremely exciting.
They started walking down a block that had thrift stores, a hair salon, a cat adoption agency (which Camila noted that they would simply have to visit afterwards,) and a park across the street. It just seemed so.. Lauren.
".. And, we're here!"
Camila turned to her left, to find a tiny restaurant on the corner of Avenue A, with a huge sign covered in Christmas lights, regardless of the season that they were in.
As she entered the restaurant, it took her a moment to take it all in, which of course didn't take long because it was super tiny.
The room was dimly lit, with the doors and windows open, so the fresh air was constant. The red drapes were open, and the booths around the tables looked extremely comfy.
They were surrounded by students, couples, and small groups of friends doing all types of things: playing board games, doing homework, or simply just reading the paper while drinking a hot cup of coffee. It was funny to Camila how it seemed as if everyone was in their own little world.
Then, she noticed an entrance to the second room in the restaurant. There were deep red curtains on each side, wide open so that anyone could enter. Camila walked up the two tiny steps, and gasped.
The restaurant only continued to get cuter. There were small chandeliers on the ceilings, and there were black, velvet booths on the right side of the room, and small tables on the left. By the large, open window, there was a small booth that looked absolutely perfect.
Camila immediately took it upon herself to sit in the booth, and Lauren followed.
"You know, it's crazy how much we have in common," Lauren said, sitting beside her. "This is my favorite booth."
Camila smiled. "I love it. It's so soft, and you can feel the sun on your face, and the breeze in your hair. It's perfect."
Lauren laughed. "You're perfect."
Camila blushed, taking in all of her surroundings.
Then, a waitress came to their table and took their order. Camila ordered a macaroni and cheese, while Lauren ordered a sandwich. They also served peach flavored yoga juice, which was exciting to both of them.
"Okay, enough of putting things off," Camila said, straightening up. "Let's get to work."
"Okay, whatever you want," Lauren replied, taking her laptop out of its case.
Camila did the same, while also taking out her copy of the novel they were reading in class, titled "The Girl in the Flammable Skirt."
Lauren noticed the book, and groaned. "That book was so hard for me to get through, it's ridiculous."
Camila rolled her eyes. "Tell me about it. I only finished part one, and I'm ready to give up."
"Well, the thing you have to keep in mind is the fact that Bender focuses on fantasy vs. reality."
Camila frowned. "Where do you see that?"
Lauren took the book away from Camila, opening to one of the stories.
"Well, you see how she uses mermaids and goblins as main characters, rather than people?"
Camila nodded, recalling one of the stories that she read a couple of nights ago.
