"Wait... what?" Shayna couldn't breathe for a second. The only sound on the street was her heart, hammering in her chest, and Kurt's shallow breathing in the cooling evening air.

"I mean, I didn't kill her. I think. I'm pretty sure. My mind is beginning to play tricks on me. Shayna, if everyone thinks I did it, then how can I be sure I didn't? Even Daisy suspects me. But I didn't kill her," Kurt rambled, "I swear I didn't. I really loved her, since we first knew each other. We never had any serious arguments, either. You know that, Shayna, you know, don't you?"

Shayna took a long look into Kurt's wild blue eyes, his flushed face, lips slightly parted, breathing hard. Fingers dragging hair out of his face, then wiping off his forehead with the back of his hand.  He looked so defeated. Shayna felt her chest tighten.

"I believe you," she choked out in a tiny voice. She took in a deep breath and said louder, "I really do believe you."

Kurt's face looked like daybreak feels after a long night.
