Truth? How can you tell if someone is telling the truth? It's hard and sometimes you just have to follow your heart but other times its best to follow your head.
I've made mistakes in the past believing in people but also made mistakes not believing in them. I just had to take it as it came and did what I thought was right, it might have gone wrong and hell it did back then but that isn't important right now.
What's important to you right now is if we got the map or not right?
I wish I could say it was easy. That we got the map and got the hell out of there but that would be a lie. All I'm saying is, don't always assume that you get lucky because it don't work that way, it never does!
Nothing is easy even if the map is staring you in the face, which it was and I was about to find out in the most unpleasant way. While that question was spinning around in my head over and over yet again, why me?
Which followed by that other question, what had I done to deserve this?
My eyes slowly opened to find Zack with bloodshot eyes leaning over me. At first I didn't recognise him but his voice brought me back to attention. I wonder what happened while I was out cold?
"You're e...," I couldn't bring myself to say it so I said the only thing that could seem a bit less horrifying. "Zack, are you alright?" I ask.
"I'm fine, rather be back at home and alive with a massive cheese burger in my hand and playing some video games but I'm alright," he smiles. I smile back, I'm not sure how he keeps smiling in such a situation.
But I couldn't not bring up what is staring me right in the face. "What did he do to you?" I ask worried.
"That doesn't matter, we don't have much time, Cayden. While he isn't here we must get the map and go," says Zack.
"I never asked why you are helping me? I mean I pretty much took you the wrong way. I pretty much thought I didn't need you," I say softly.
"We all make mistakes," he says.
I laugh. "I think I would have said the same thing. He deserved it!"
"Come on Cayden we must concentrate," he says.
He helps me off the floor. I knew where we was. Back where this had all started. My heart felt like it was going to die right then but Zack pulled on my arm. "Cayden, its alright we can escape again," he whispered.
I tried to concentrate not only for me but for Zack. "Alright where do we even begin?" I ask.
"I think I have an idea where the map could be. Actros said he had it but he had to give it back when he left, it was his. So I think it be in Lucas's office rotting away somewhere," says Zack as he goes over to the door and unlocks it with ease. I must ask him how he knows how to do that but not now.
"Do you know where his office is?" I ask.
"I have some clue," whispered Zack.
"He took you in there didn't he? That's where he did that to your eyes?" I ask.
"It doesn't matter," says Zack as he leads me towards the stair case, us being as quiet as possible.
"You would think it be more guarded. I mean we are the ones that broke out before. What's stopping us again," I say.
"If we escape again, if he catches us. Its the tunnel and I can tell he wants that, well for me anyway. I'm lucky I got off with just this," Zack tells me.
"It's what he does to the scars, isn't it? You don't have to hide that from me. I know we don't know much about each other but we are all we got now. You have to try trust me," I say as we reached the next floor.
