Wyatt POV

I woke to the sounds of birds, brook running over rocks and kids laughing, I looked around.

"How did I get here? Where am I?" I ask myself out loud.

I sit up extra fast when I hear Emilina squeal with fits of laughter.

"You might want to put these on before you go out there." I turn to see Grant standing there holding out a pair of buckskin pants. "Paul and I took turns standing watch until you woke. I'm just glad you finally did. It's been hard keeping her away."

He points over to a girl sitting on the other side of the brook. I couldn't see her to well she was sitting under a tree in its shadows. I knew it wasn't Emilina for I could see her playing with a few smaller kids in the edge to the brook. They were splashing water at each other. Laughing like I've never seen her do before. I see movement and get dressed real fast. The girl walks up to me. She has jet black hair like Emilina but her eyes are like two pools of lapis lazuli that I could get lost in forever if I was not careful. Her skin looked like to be soft as silk, the color of gold in the sun.

"Wyatt, you're awake!" Emilina squeals with delight as she throws her arms around me.

The girl looks at Emilina not understanding why she was hugging me, but I can see she doesn't like it. She is glaring at my little sister, anger filling her eyes.

"Okay let me go. I'm starving and I have questions." I said pulling Emilina with me.

As we followed Grant to where he said his father was with the chief. I couldn't wait to meet this chief. I remember father telling us stories from his travels with his best friend. That was when he met the chief and they became friends. As we walk to others Emilina and I were holding hands, she's my baby sister I have to look out for her. I get a shock when I feel another small hand slide into my other hand.

"I think she likes you." Emilina says in a low voice.

I didn't know what to say or do. I was in shock, I never had a girl like me before. Her hand was so warm and soft. I looked from our hands to her face back to our hands. She turned a bright red when I felt someone slap my other arm. I turn to glare at whoever just hit me.

"Don't be rude. You know it's not right to stare." Emilina says in a motherly tone.

"Don't ever hit me like that again." I said, no feeling in my voice.

Emilina yanks her hand out of mine and storms away from us. I wanted to go after her or call her back but then I noticed all the other people watching us and a small tug on my other hand.

"Wyatt, so glad to see you up my boy" Mr. Sulavan said.

He was standing beside a strange looking structure. Another man stepped out behind him. The second man looked at the girl beside me then at our linked hands.

"Aquetsiageyitsa" (Daughter), he said with a stern look on his face, she released my hand and ran off.

"Come inside" the man says. Then he looks around and asked, "Where is your sister?"

"I don't know she got mad and took off. She might be with Grant or Paul" I said his name with a snarl in my voice.

"She needs not to wonder to far from the village without Ayawisgi (warrior) with her to protect her." He says with concern in his voice.
