Chapter 2

Emilina POV

Father called Mr. Sulavan Beta and Mr. Sulavan called father Alpha. I look at father confused. I heard Wyatt scream in the hall and ran to him. He was shaking and his body was changing.

"Wyatt, please stop your scaring me." All I can say before I am pulled back into the room and the door closed.

I turn to confront him; I knew who it was by the way his hands felt on my shoulders. But before I could say anything, he pulls me into his arms protectively. He was trying to cover my ears from the screams in the hall.

"Sandalio, you better stop your boy before you both regret this." Doctor Madison screams.

I couldn't hear what father said. But I will never forget the sound I heard next for the rest of my life. I heard the doctor's neck snap as it was broke. I finally got away from Paul and out into the hall. Wyatt was standing there but it wasn't Wyatt. It was a frost gray wolf with my brother and fathers eyes. There was blood covering his snout. Paul reached for me and Wyatt growled.

"Do not touch her if you value your life. He will not hurt his sister. Emilina talk to Wyatt, see if you can get him to calm down." I couldn't believe the words my father said.

"Wy...Wy...Wyatt" I said stuttering for the first time in my life. I take a deep breath and try again. "Wyatt, check your temper!" I tried to say it as I heard father, Wyatt looked at me like he was smiling and I couldn't help but to just laugh.

"He said she's on the way here. You take the kids and leave. Take the tunnels from the basement." I hear father talking with Mr. Sulavan.

"What tunnels?" Mr. Sulavan asked.

"They were put into place as percussion. They will take you out to the woods close to the chief. He is waiting for you." Father picks up some papers off the floor. "This map will help you." Father said as he handed Mr. Sulavan a piece of paper.

I watch father as he walks over to me. "Emilina, I need you to go with them and make Wyatt go to. I will hold them off until you are safe. Then I will find you. Okay?"

"I don't want to leave you. Please, come with us." I begged him.

He hands me some papers. "I gave Wyatt these papers when things went bad at the boat, you remember?" He asked and I nodded as tears fell down my cheeks. "These belong to Wyatt. Make sure you give them to him when he returns." He kisses me on the forehead. He then turns going down on one knee looking into Wyatt's wolf eyes. "Take care of your sister. You kids are the last of our blood line." He looked at each of us. "All four of you children are the last four Royal Wolves, you are the future. But we are not the only ones here."

We followed father down to the basement, he moves a wall to show a tunnel. "Go I will close it after you are all inside. They will not find you."

"Would you like me to carry you? Since we will be running most of the way and you can rest." Paul says to me with a shy smile.

"I think he wants me to stay with him." I said as I felt Wyatt pushing in between us, pushing me back away from Paul.

"But you won't be able to keep up once we hit full speed. And he can't carry you yet." Paul tried to get me to understand.

I pulled Wyatt's eyes to my own. "I know you don't trust him but I do, besides a piggy back ride won't hurt." I said with a little giggle.

He huffed and pushed past me to Paul, releasing a low growl. Paul kept backing up into the wall. Wyatt stood on his back legs his large front paws on the wall behind Paul. He is face to face with Paul, and then he does something I will never forget. He barks, right in Paul's face. Father and Mr. Sulavan both laughed at the same time.

"Son, I think he just warned you." Mr. Sulavan said.

"Wyatt, son, don't scare him like that. He can't help himself." Father says, I turn and look at father wondering what he means. But we don't have time to talk about that...father looks around and say, "You have to go now! They are here."

Paul scooped me up and slings me around onto his back, as his father did his mother. Grant started to go first but Wyatt pushed past him.

"His eyes are better than yours in the bark. Let him go first. Paul you next so she's close to him, then Grant. We will be right behind you." Mr. Sulavan said.

"You have been a wonderful Beta. Now until he is of age, you will be acting Alpha." Father told Mr. Sulavan.

"No you will be with us soon. You will be back in your rightful place." Mr. Sulavan said.

"This is my last stand. Now go and tell the Chief what happened." Father said with a sad look upon his face.

That was the last I saw father. He shoved Mr. Sulavan with Mrs. Sulavan on his back into the tunnel and closed the wall. I heard Wyatt howl further down the tunnel. It sounded so sad I wanted to run to him. Next thing I know they were all running through the tunnel as I fell asleep on Paul's back.
