Emilina POV

After we started heading back to the village the second night we were attacked, it was the pack I met in the woods. I knew I should have killed him the first time we meet. A few braves were hurt that night but no one got killed, thank you Goddess. That wolf really wants to get his hands on me for some reason. He tried to grab the two cubs that I had saved and me. However, he was side swiped by one pissed off big brother, David.

The woman that I had seen with him before was injured. He and his "pack" left her for dead. With the help of my Women's Council and Rosealee's knowledge of plants, we lost no one, not even one rogue. Almost a week after the attack I went to visit our prisoners, mainly the woman. I wanted to ask them some questions, I did not want them scared of me but I was not going to be scared of them either. As soon as I walked into the area they were kept I heard her crying. I ran as fast as I could sidestep the others that were just lying around. I saw her curled up in a ball crying her eyes out. I reached my hand out slowly showing her I meant her no harm. She looked up at me with a look of confusing.

"What have I done for him to leave me here to die? I am his mate I am the one that the Moon Goddess made special just for him. Why did he leave me here? He left me for dead." She was so hurt and so confused. She did not understand how a mate could be so cold. I called David to me over the pack link. I told him to get here now but do not alarm anyone.

"It's okay I mean you no harm I just wanted to talk with you for a little bit. I would like to find out about you. Where you come from? What is your name? Just girl talk you know, I know it gets lonely being around all these guys all the time." I was trying to sound friendly.

She was looking at me as I spoke to her but something caught her eye and she was watching something behind me. I could smell him and feel his presents before I heard his steps or saw her looking at him. David was walking up behind me very carefully so she would not hurt herself or me.

"Thank you for coming David", as I said his name her eyes got bright with recognition. "Do you remember David? He and his little sister use to be in the same pack as you." I ask hoping she does remember him and that she will recognize him as her true mate.

She looks at me again then flicks her eyes back to him. "Is your family still with the pack?" She asks him trying to put the name and face together.

"No, my dad and mom were killed by the one you call alpha, the same one you call your mate." He said shaking his head. His eyes were full of sadness but his words were full of pure hate.

"He would never do anything like that. He loves the pack and..." Her voice trails off as she keeps looking into his eyes.

I grab his hand and pull him down to sit with us on the ground. As soon as he was sitting on his knees, he reached out for her. She flinched scared he was fixing to hit her; he gave her a kind look and put his hand down. I watched as she watched his hands, he placed them in his lap and left them there. I moved closer to her trying to give her a little support and courage.

"He killed my father also", she finally broke the silence looking down at her hands in her lap. "He told me it was for the best of the pack because father wouldn't let us be together even if we are mates. He said it was because my father saw him as a rogue and didn't want me to take over the pack."

I reach out and take her hand holding it for a few moments. I feel David's eyes on me, so I reach out with my free hand and take one of his. I then look up seeing her with her head still hung low and the look of surprise in his eyes. Slowly I pull my hands together until theirs meet; I can feel the tingles as sparks literally jump between their hands. We all jerk our hands back and look at each other in shock.
