Paul POV

I really wish Emilina would quit pushing me away. Ever since we got to the valley, she has been so busy with everyone else; it feels almost as if she doesn't want to spend time with me. Now I have to protect my little brother when I should be protecting her instead. I can't shake this nagging feeling that there was more to what she showed me then she's letting on. I just wish...

"Paul, get you head out of the clouds and pay attention. I don't know what kind of sign she will be sending and we need to keep an eye on these rouges." Alpha Adahy said pulling me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry sir, but I just can't get rid of this feeling that something is wrong." I told him as I turned and looked across the field.

I couldn't see her standing there anymore and it made me scared. I don't know what I would do without her in my life. She means so much to me and it's not just the mate bond I feel even though it's what started the whole thing. Sometime over the last five years, I truly fell in love with her. I try to show her and tell her all the time but I guess she's too busy to notice. I want to make her my wife; not just my mate and not just someone that I swore to protect. I turned back to Alpha Adahy as Grant walked up to us.

"The fight has started and people are talking about the Frost Wolf. Alpha Adahy, will you tell us the story of the Frost Wolf?" Grant asked with childlike eyes.

"Now is not the time." He said as he turned back watching Wyatt and the other wolf.

I heard a high pitch whistle and looked around trying to find where it come from. I closed my eyes and saw Emilina pointing to my left, opening my eyes quickly I saw a few rogues trying to sneak in on us. I linked Grant and Alpha Adahy letting them know. We didn't make a move to let them know we knew they were there; we just waited for them to come to us.

They sprang into action thinking they got the drop on us but we had a trick or two for them. In no time at all we had them taken down, the three that attacked us plus the half dozen or so that tried to get to the village while we were busy. From the looks of it, the group on the other side had the same thing happen to them. Instead of going back to our "post," we went to watch Wyatt fight.

"Glad to see the little missions where taken care of." Emilina said without taking her eyes off her brother.

"He's not finished with that wolf yet?" Grant asked.

"He's just playing with him now, watch his movements." Alpha Adahy's voice was so low I almost missed it.

Wyatt POV

We circled each other warily, neither wanting to make the first move. He grunted and growled, his teeth bared, saliva dripping from his savage mouth. He snapped his jaws at me as I imagining those canines tearing into flesh. The black wolf attacked first, leaping forward without warning and with such incredible speed that I was taken by surprise. Somehow, I managed to twist his body away from the attack in time, but his claws still raked down my side. I gasped as blood splattered from the wound, staining the ground. He snarled in satisfaction at the damage he had inflicted, I tried to pay it no mind.

We started circling again, but the rouge seemed to have more confidence now. He pounced again with a terrible roar, but I ducked to avoid the attack, my jaws closing around his front paw. He howled as I shifted his weight, dumping him onto his back. Paws scrabbling at my stomach, he tried to kick him off, even as I tried to clamp my jaws around the black wolf's throat. His strength was manic, and he managed to get out from under me leaving yet more claw wounds on my underbelly. More blood splattered onto the ground, from both of us as we disengaged and began to circle once more. His eyes were the deepest black I've ever seen, and I shivered as I looked in those awful pools of darkness. He was feral, completely lost to his bloodlust.
