Emilina POV

The next day we all packed up and started following Alpha Adahy to the village. He had told us they had moved after the attack. Before he sent scouts out to find a new place, he found the maps our father had given Wyatt. The scouts followed the map to a very beautiful valley.

"There is a large tepee in the middle off the valley; it's built out of trees. I think they called it a cabin." Alpha Adahy had told us.

"What color is the door?" Mr. Sullivan asked.

"The door"; Alpha Adahy looked confused.

"Where you go into the tepee"; I explained very quickly.

"Oh, it is the color of the sky. Look like someone took it right out of the clouds." Alpha Adahy said.

Wyatt and I looked at each other and at the same time said; "Father built mother her house." We both started laughing like little children.

"So you know the valley?" Alpha Adahy asked surprised at us.

"Just what farther use to tell us, he said he built mother a very large house with many, many rooms and a sky blue door. She always wanted a large family. She knew she could not have any more children but she said she would never turn anyone way that needed help." Wyatt said as I had tears in my eyes.

"We will be stopping here for a while to rest." Alpha Adahy said as he took his pack off and sat down under a tree.

"But we are so close we could be there in less than an hour." Mr. Sulavan said.

"Less than ten minutes" Alpha Adahy replied, "but we are going to wait till later to enter camp. Someone needs to talk with me." You could see the color drain from Wyatt's face with his words.

"Actually I will start the conversation because she has been thinking about this so much." He said surprising us when he said "she". "Inoli, come sit and talk with me. Tell me what is bothering you."

I slowly walked over to him as everyone else was taking their packs off too. I did know what to say or where to start with my questions but I know they were important to all of us for me to get them answered. So I just started talking.

"Yes, I have been thinking about a lot of different things but the most important is about clan or tribe beliefs and "laws". I said not knowing how to word it, but he still looked at confused. "Okay plain and simple is your clan...sorry our clan a matrilineal society or not?" He was still confused.

"I am sorry Inoli I do not understand what you are meaning to ask." He said with a blank look on his face.

"Is this your clan or Kamama's mothers?" I blurted out and automatically wanted to take my words back. "I'm sorry I didn't mean for it to come out like that." My voice was starting to get shaky as I saw the hurt look on his face.

"I know you did not mean to hurt me with your words. To answer your question...yes we do believe that the children belong to their mothers clan. Kamama's mother was Head Clan Mother before she went to The Spirit World. I know she is happy and she is proud of Kamama. I still miss her every day." His voice trailed off into silence.

We sat there for a few moments; giving him a little time to himself. I stood up to stretch my legs and get some water. I saw two women arguing over a place by some trees.

"Sit with me and watch as their Head Clan Mother takes charge." Alpha Adahy told me as I was about to walk in their direction so I did just as he said.
