Laura's POV

After school I was lying on my stomach on my bed doing homework when there was a knock at the door.

"Come in." I call without looking away from my homework.

"Hey." Rydel's familiar voice greets me.

"Hey." I reply cautiously closing my books knowing that it was probably about Ross and I in the car this morning. I look up at Rydel after putting my books away, who is staring at me intently like she is trying to figure a crossword puzzle. "What?" I ask defensively.

"What is going on between you and Ross?" Rydel asks getting straight to the point.

"Nothing." I answer.

"Oh so having a jam session in the middle of the night and writing an amazing song is nothing to you?" Rydel says all in one breath, I look down at the floor guilt written all over my face.

"Oh, so you heard us?" I ask looking up from the floor to Rydel.

"Your not the only one who Ross woke up with his  racket last night." Rydel replies a matter of factly. I blush again.

"Well he said he couldn't sleep because he had a big test today." I try to defend myself but seem to be failing.

"Please Ross only goes out there for a handful of reasons," Rydel starts to list them, "he is feeling extra stressed about something, someone close to him sick or dying, he wants to think, or last but not least he likes someone, though the last one never happens because all the girls at our school are shallow and only like him for his looks, like Sydney." Rydel finishes.

"Yeah what is the deal with her?" I pry interrupting Rydel's speech.

"Oh, Sydney has been trying to get Ross to go out with her for years." Rydel explains.

"Oh, and the nickname Delly?" I question.

"Oh, I used to love the nickname but she ruined it for me, she uses us to try and get to Ross. Every morning she will find Rocky, Ryland or me to ask where Ross is, every project in a class they have together she asks to be his partner," Rydel continues

"Well I saved Ross from it this time in music class Mr. Rolland assigned a project and right after he announced we could pick our partners she pounced on him, but Ross said he was already partners with me, I mean of course I wanted to be partners it just caught me off guard, he also saved me a seat int class." I was starting to rant about Ross and stopped myself as soon as I realized I was doing it.

"So I guess there is only one more question to ask," Rydel pauses for dramatic effect, "Do you like Ross?" Rydel finishes.

"No.." I answer uncertainly Rydel gives me a look. "I don't know..." Rydel's look intensifies "Okay fine I do like Ross just stop looking at me like that." I finally spit out.

"I knew it!" Rydel shouts jumping up from her spot on the couch.

"Okay so I like him what's the big deal?" I ask rolling my eyes playfully at Rydel. "We don't even know if he likes me back." I finish.

"He totally does." Rydel replies excitedly.

"How do you know?" I ask.

"I'm his sister I know things plus he looks at you the same way that my parents look at each other." Rydel answers with a smile.

"Really?" I ask hopefully, Rydel nods her head.

"So do you want to go out with him?" Rydel pries.

"I don't know my last relationship ended badly and I don't know if I am ready to go down the dating road again." I say.

"How bad are we talking?" Rydel asks.

"Bad enough to the point of where I think he was the one who killed my parents." I reply sadly.

"WHAT?!" Rydel yells.
