Rydel's POV

I can see the sun through my closed eyes shining through my window. I get up and put my hand in front of my eyes to block the bright light as I sit up in bed. I climb out of bed and stretch. I walk over to my bathroom to brush my teeth. After I finish brushing my teeth I put my hair into a messy bun and walk downstairs. Nobody else is awake yet so I decide to fix myself some cereal. I get out a bowl, then I pull out my favorite cereal, fruit loops, I poor the cereal into the bowl then take out the milk. I pour that into my cereal then grab a spoon. I head over to my usual stool at the counter.

Ellington's POV

I was sleeping on the couch when I was woken up by some noise someone was making in the kitchen. I sit up and look at the clock it is 8 o'clock. I guess I will go eat with whoever is in the kitchen. When I round the corner I see Rydel sitting at the counter eating fruit loops. She looks so cute. Wait did I really just think that. Rydel is my best friend I can't think about her like that. "Hey Delly." I say as I walk up behind her.

"Oh hey Ell, did I wake you up?" Rydel asks turning around in her stool to look at me.

"No." I lie walking over to the cabinets to get some cereal.

"There is no more fruit loops." Rydel informs me.

"Man those are my favorite." I huff and turn around.

"Sorry I had the rest." Rydel gloats eating another spoonful. I glare at her. "There is cherrios left." Rydel exclaims getting up from her spot and walking over to the sink and placing her bowl in it.

"I hate cherrios." I whine.

"Well then starve." She says leaning back on the counter.

"I wasn't that hungry any ways." I huff. As Rydel is taking her seat at the counter her phone goes off.

"Oh hey Josh." She greets happily answering the phone. "What do you mean you can't come?" She asks her smile turning into a frown. "Yeah I understand." She replies hanging up the phone.

"What's wrong?" I ask leaning on the counter across from Rydel.

"My friend Josh who was suppose to be my date to the dance backed out." Rydel says putting her hands over her eyes.

"Well you don't need a date you have Laura and Ross." I say trying to console her.

"Yeah who are a couple, without a date I'll just be a third wheel." She states removing her hands from her eyes to look at me.

"I'll be your date." I blurt before I can stop myself.

"What are you serious?" Rydel asks her eyes widening.

"I mean if you don't want to..." I stutter.

"No I would love for you to be my date," Rydel says the smile returning to her face. "I mean as friends." Rydel adds quickly.

"Yeah of course." I agree rubbing the back of my neck nervously.

"Thanks Ell." Rydel chirps jumping up from her seat and running over to me. She wraps me in a strong hug, after a couple seconds I hug her back. We stay like that for a little while until we hear someone coming down the stairs, we release each other and look to see who was coming down the stairs. It was Riker. "Hey Riker." Rydel chirps as Riker reached the bottom of the stairs.

"What are you so happy about?" Riker asks with a laugh.

"Stuff." Rydel giggles looking out of the corner of her eye at me. "Well I have to talk to Laura." Rydel says running up the stairs.
