I Think About You....

How could this have happened?

--Rydel's POV--

 When I hear Ross say no my heart drops. I turn to Ratliff as a tear streams down my face. He pull me into him and strokes my hair as I bawl into his chest. Then I hear the sirens outside and people rushing through the door.

--Ross's POV--

I look down at Laura's lifeless body and start to cry; how could this have happened? She was fine a couple minutes ago. I hear the sirens as the ambulance pulls up to the school. I hear the footsteps of the paramedics and the squeaky wheels of the stretcher. A paramedic rushes over to where I am kneeling next to Laura.

"What happened?" She asks looking at me.

"I don't know she just collapsed." I say trying unsuccessfully to stop crying

"She's not breathing! I need a defibrillator!" The paramedic shouts checking Laura's pulse. The other paramedic comes over with a machine with shocks on the end. "You are going to have to stand back." The paramedic turns to me quickly then back to Laura charging up to shocks. I get up and stand next to Ratliff and Rydel who are holding hands. Rydel grabs my hand and squeezes it. All three of us watch as Laura's body jolts a little with the first shock. "No response. Try 150 cc." The paramedic says to her assistant. The paramedic rubs the shocks together then presses them to Laura's chest. I have to look away. "She's back." The paramedic says making me look back to Laura. Her eyes where still closed but I could see her chest going up and down slowly. The paramedic lift her up to the stretcher and put an oxygen mask over her mouth and nose. They load her into the ambulance and we follow them outside. "Which one of you is coming with us to the hospital?" The female paramedic asks turning to us.

"Ross you go Ratliff and I will meet you at the hospital." Rydel says nudging me towards the ambulance. I nod my head and climb in the back sitting on a bench next to Laura.

--Rydel's POV--

Ratliff and I watch Ross climb into the back of the ambulance. We watch the ambulance speed away until it is out of our view. Ratliff and I walk over to the car in silence. Ratliff get's into the driver's seat and I get into the passenger seat. "You okay?" Ratliff asks looking over at me after starting the car.

"I don't know." I say staring out the window in the direction the ambulance drove off in.

"Hey everything will be okay." Ratliff reassures me putting his hand over mine. I give him a small smile.

"I just.. How could this have happened? She seemed fine." I say starting to get choked up.

"Maybe it was something she ate." Ratliff suggests. Then something clicks I remember Laura showing me a picture of Brandon and I thought I saw him at the dance but I figured it was just someone who looked a lot like him. I bet he did something to Laura.

"Let's just get to the hospital to check on Ross." I say turning to Ratliff. Ratliff pulls out of the parking lot and heads to the hospital. We get there pretty fast.  Ellington parks the car and we rush inside to the front desk. "We are looking for Laura Marano." I say quickly glancing around looking for Ross.

"Are you Rydel?" The lady at the front desk asks looking up from the computer screen at me.

"Yes." I say.

"Okay you can go back." She says pointing down a hallway. "She is in room 415." She informs me.

"Oh, can I bring my boyfriend with me?" I ask pointing to Ellington.

"Yes sure sweetie." The lady says not looking up from the computer screen. I start to hurry down the hall but Ratliff stops me.

"What?" I ask giving him a weird look.
