Chapter 52:Lunar Ball? (Part 02)

While Claire was on her back to the Nightshade campsite. Her navy blue eyes remained on the screen of her cell phone. She had an unsent text open, the contact was Brandon. The message read: "I'm sorry for lying to you. I didn't know what else to do. I just wanted to protect my sister." The cursor blinked as her finger hovered over the send button. This is the text Raven wanted her to send. She said this would help fix her relationship with Brandon. But, she couldn't do it. To apologize to him is like asking her to apologize for protecting her sister. She wasn't going to apologize for that.

Claire did what any logical person would do in that situation. She protected her family. If the roles were reversed Brandon would have done the same. There was no need for her to apologize for any of it. Besides if anyone should be apologizing it should be Brandon.

Brandon is the one who tried to have her killed. As her boyfriend, he should have wanted to protect her. He had no right to break up with her for protecting her family. So she'll wait until he apologizes to her and after tonight. He's going to. Because she's going to make him jealous.

Claire switched the contact over and began sending a text to Lycan. The text read: "Do you think you could set me up with one of Nikan's sons for the ball? I really screwed things up at the Nightshade celebration party and couldn't get a mate. So I was thinking since you're our Alpha you could help me out?" She couldn't believe she's asking Lycan for help. But she didn't have a choice. She's been labeled as a bear trap by Nikan's sons. Only Lycan or Alejandro could fix that.

Lycan sent her a text back. It read: "Why on earth would I help you? I thought your loyalty lied with your bitch of a sister. I suppose I could talk to Nikan on the condition that you start cooperating. Which means no more running off to save your sister. I'm not going to set you up knowing you're disloyal."

Claire texted back. "She's my sister. I have to look out for her."

"So you're admitting that you're helping her. Interesting, it's a good thing I'm only using you as bait." Lycan replied. "Enjoy going to the Lunar Ball without a mate." Claire growled. Just as she was about to put her phone away. She got another text. "Very well, I'll help you." She smirked. She didn't know what made him change his mind but she's glad he's cooperating.

"Nice," Claire put her phone away. "In your face Brandon." She grinned. The second her foot touched the soil of the Nightshade campsite. She was hit by a powerful tackle. The impact knocked her to the ground and left her singed in flames.

"Welcome back bitch," Alexis grabbed a handful of Claire's hair and began dragging her across the dirt. "You tried to fucking kill me. You thought I was going to forget about that. Oh hell no." She threw Claire into a tree. "The gloves are off bitch." She ignited her fists in fire and hurled a fire ball at Claire. Claire jumped out of the way. The tree was scorched in flames as a result.

Alexis kept hurling fireball after fireball. Claire kept dodging them causing more fire to burn the forest. She charged at Alexis and tackled her to the ground. Before she could Alexis caught her, kneed her in the stomach. Alexis charged her fist with spirit and struck Claire in the face. Claire hit the ground, fighting to get up. While she was trying to get up. Alexis began stomping on her relentlessly. She charged her foot with spirit and kicked Claire in the stomach while she was arched over. Claire rolled over holding her stomach.

"Is that all you got?" Claire forced out these words while she was trying to get up.

"No," Alexis caught her fists on fire. "This is," She went to unleash a powerful flamethrower and reduce Claire to ash. Before she could, Alejandro put her arms behind her back. "Al, let me at her, let me at her." She screamed. "Jay said I could beat her up for what she did to me. He said." Alejandro began pulling her away from Claire. "This isn't over bitch, this isn't over. I'll kill your ass for what you did to me. You hear me, you're fucking dead."
